Nowhere near as bad as this board. Every time it’s, “So and so blinked” or “So and so bent the knee.”

I got this email from a dealer I buy equipment from…

Hi Kiters,Wingers and Foil Enthusiasts; I am sure you are all aware that the current tariff wars are driving up prices in our sport. The good news is that all the closeout gear is already in the US and those prices are still below last year's level. Prices will go up as we get into the summer months so if you are wanting new gear, I recommend you jump on it now and save some $$. Slingshot is holding prices at current levels until May 10th then everything is slated to jump 13% and that number could go up pending what happens in DC. Cabrinha is increasing prices by 8% for now and looking to move production to the US.

Completely non-responsive to the conversation the other poster and I were having. It was somewhat witty, though.
I’ll give you a shot. What does China have to do with 70 countries that have come to the table?
Also, go on record. Do you support Trump’s tariffs on foreign goods? Yes or no? If yes…do you want short term or permanent tariffs?

Twice.
Your bar for leadership is incredibly low.

That’s what I thought. Thanks for proving my point.

Your point is obvious.
Maybe you should wear a hat.

Agreed. You don’t have any position except for OMB. Everyone can see that. Again, I appreciate you for making that so obvious.

You should try to do better next time.
Sounds like you have terrible judgment.

quote:Not so much. The only way we reshore manufacturing is by devaluing the dollar. And if we did that, we’d no longer be able to afford a military—it would all go to servicing the debt. It would be a military defeat without firing a shot. The alternative would be default, but again, it would mean not being able to fund our military.
The good news with tariffs, like I said before, is long term negative effects can be stopped in their tracks if we see that’s what’s happening.
China knows this. Hell, damn near everyone knows this. And it’s why we have no leverage at this time. We need to get our own house in order first, before we start trying to dictate terms to other countries.

He did not blink for shite. If he did why is my news feed still wall to wall tariffs with nobody anywhere else pushing this blink shite besides here?

We need fireworks on the exempt list.
Most of them are double what they were 5 years ago

Are you for the tariffs or not? If for, are you for temporary or permanent? Let’s get you on record because all it seems like you are all doing is taking the opposite opinion of what Trump does.
You do understand the value in getting a concession without giving up anything. So I say to this proffer: you first. Box yourself in and I will then decide if I want to box myself in or not.
I am making two points ITT and neither has anything to do with my opinion on how or when to use tariffs.
1. The administration's exempting a swath of goods from the tariffs with no concession from the other side has the appearance of capitulation. Anyone who argues this is being purposely obtuse (something best left to the professionals in obtusology). Let's also not twist things around it absolutely was a capitualtion but had nothing to do with China but that doesn't matter one bit.
2. The rollout has shown multiple examples of poor planning. The most glaring example is the attempt to eliminate the de minimis overnight. That was logistically impossible and walking it back less than 24 hours later underscored the lack of planning and forethought. This was an early signal to every country in the world that the process was half-backed.
I will reiterate I am all for weakening China (Russia, NK, Iran etc) and I have posted many times how we go out of our way not to buy Chinese made goods, and how this is the one thing EVERY one complaining about China could do. In my personal life, I see many people who profess to hate China yet have a shop full of Chinese tools. If you want to fact-check this, just look at my tool recommendations on the H&G forum. I always recommend tools made in non-Chinese factories first and begrudgingly, make a Chinese recommendation from reading about them on forums because some people are unable or unwilling to allocate enough disposable income to a non-Chinese purchase.
