I think they mean that it's not part of the initial scope of what they planned to do. We have already decimated their military, that was part I. Part II has to do with the strait, and it looks like this may be part of that since they are attacking ports. Splitting hairs obviously, but that's how I understand it.

The issue here, just like in Europe is that the citizens are going to have to act on their own but with support from the US. The US isn't going to put boots on the ground, and there are different factions in Iran that are claiming power.

You are correct, but this is of course a nonsense ex post facto justification masquerading as the original plan. When we went in, there was no Part I - We were attempting to remove the Iranian Government from power. After we recognized that there was no way to do this that we had an appetite for, and Iran successfully limited access in/out of the Straight, Part 2 was created.

Trump told them to be ready to step the frick up. That is what he said.

We tried to give weapons to the Iranian resistance thru the Kurds but the damn Kurds just kept them. This according to DJT.
