I think what you have to ask yourself is for what purpose would Trump believe he even needs to appease his base with “red meat” like that? He’s term limited, and doesn’t have to worry with reelection. What key to what issue(s) does the base hold that must be secured by gifts of red meat and puffery?

The operative term (or phrase, as it were) is “legitimate evidence,” by which I mean available and capable of being legally introduced into evidence. Sometimes, oftentimes even, what appears to be for all intents and purposes “smoking gun” evidence may be subject to exclusion from the proceedings on account of some legal/procedural basis. A bullshite basis as it may be. I’m only citing one possibility among many.

a. This is why I keep emphasizing how much opinion and subjectivity is involved, which makes "proving" much more difficult
b. Your point is why the crazies keep manufacturing fantasies where these cases are tried in Florida and not DC. The irony of that is a special prosecutor would be clearly legal in DC but iffy in Florida.

The traitors should face equal justice. Trump faced juries stacked against him. They should face the same. They committed treason against Trump who is a Florida resident and whose home in Florida was invaded in the the treasonous conspiracy. The traitors will get as fair of a trial as Trump got. They should get the same treatment as the Rosenbergs.
