Job openings in the US now exceed the total number of unemployed by 352,000. New JOLTS data out this morning show 6.698 million job openings in April, while the total number of unemployed civilians was 6.346 million.

Jobs are there....having access to employment does not mean having access to employment that you find ideal

Interesting plateau and then jump around election time. Couldn’t be Trump though. I was told he’d be a disaster for the economy.

Maybe that will help bring up the putrid participation rate.

My OP says NOTHING about Trump causing it.

My point is that employment is there for people in need. A lot of people who are unemployed aren't unemployed because they can't find a job, but because they can't find a job that fits their ideal.

I am too lazy to go through the longitudinal NAICS data, but I am curious to see what the jobs are that are outpacing the current growth.

Of course th emedia focuses on " Where is Melania"?
or OOH look Bill Clinton has a new book out. Or Chelsea thres shade on Ivanka ( really?)
How about Malia Obama was really rocking that outfit?

Meanwhile the economy roars, other countries back down, NK summit back on, NFL caved in on eh anthem issue, illegal immigration is down ( may need to trethink this since there are now more job openings tahtn unemployed), ANTIFA is showing themselves to be the thugs they are ( guess there were not good people on both sides in Charlottesville).

Think about this folks. These are the facts when after 8 years of the lanky legged poser fraud told us that a shitty economy was the "new normal."

And this is only after a year and a half of Trump in office.

You're correct

Part of the problem is a lot of these are skilled jobs and it's tough to find people to fill them

It's not necessarily a matter of a bunch of unskilled jobs that no one wants (of course those are there as well)

How skilled does one have to be to become a subway certified sandwich artist?

Cici's has a culinary way of slicing their pizzas that takes months to perfect.

Waffle house will only hire cooks who can make a perfect Sunnyside Side Up wothout burning the egg underneath.

Those are difficult skills to craft and dry ain't gotsno tyme fo Dat cher.

Our hospital has about 250 job openings at any given time. Nurses and medical technologists mainly. There just aren't enough applicants.

Are the entry requirements ridiculous? I remember back when I was applying into industry and many companies wanted 3-5 years experience plus a degree

If it didn't cost going $25,000 and more to go into debt to become a nurse maybe more jobs would be filled.

College pricing being put into a bubble allowing every joe under the sun to go to school has caused a lot of the problems.

No freaking way I'd go into the debt my brother did to become a nurse. Ridiculous.

Hasn't this been anticipated if nursing training wasn't expanded? We knew the boomers were going to be flooding the hospitals. Is there a broken communication linkage between industry and the training platforms?
