Same for me as well.

I liked Eddie and thought he would've been a very good Governor and his constitutional convention would've been a godsend.

I wasn't especially excited about either one, but I never lost sight of the objective: getting that wall-eyed, phony Honor Code bullshite-spouting POS out of office.

Unfortunately, too many others failed to keep their eye on the ball.

I spent a lot of time arguing last fall with Rispone supporters that delusionally believed that he was running a good campaign and his slander of Ralph Abraham as a grifting Never Trumper that steals tax dollars and votes with Nancy Pelosi was a good idea and there was no possible way it was going to bite Rispone in the arse for the runoff.

I kept telling them you just cannot piss off voters you will need later. And Abraham's people genuinely liked him.

Never frick over a redneck and expect them to play ball after.

I was correct in the end and they were wrong. And I'm sorry I was correct. I really hoped to be wrong.

I literally posted this last night

quote:

Louisiana has the most complacent citizens of any states in the lower 48.

It will never ever reach any pinnacle and move beyond its dead last rankings.

It's literally dying a slow death.

When a Dem does eventually become president and passes UBI. Louisiana will be the first red state to accept it with open arms and it will further detoriate.

Louisiana homebody Sentrius will be along shortly defending the Louisiana GOP.

Every year the Republicans pick one or two big bills to rattle their sabers on so they can get reelected as "conservative, small government" representatives while they pass through a hundred other bills that are as middle of the road or liberal as can be.

This year they've got everybody looking at their right hand holding their tort reform bills that arent actually going to lower premiums, while they're just being typical politicians with their left hands.

So if you were a state legislator, you would cut a billion dollars out of the budget rather than take federal money?

Really???

More broadly, I watched the entire appropriations meeting this morning. The legislature was at an informational disadvantage. And basically the JBE team just used federal money to produce a mostly standstill budget.

The little change they did make (cut Dept of health to give judges a raise) was stupid beyond belief.

If the legislature had more time, they could do more. But it is 50/50 on whatever change they produce would even be a good thing or a bad thing.

Brick and Mortar Bill for the title insurance industry to protect the wealthy Louisiana attorneys has advanced through the legislature too. Stupid fricking protectionist bill that is unconstitutional. Might as well make this industry subject to the flower license oversight board

I'd like to hear more about this.

It's amazing you think the Louisiana GOP has the power you think they do when it's quite the opposite in reality.

The LA GOP doesn’t control shite in Louisiana and they never have and they never will. They don’t even have enough money to get their ads on TV and are reduced to digital ads.

They work for the republican politicians and political candidates, not the other way around.

You're a goddamn POS for bashing me as everything wrong with Louisiana conservatism while I'm one of the biggest JBE haters on record and I voted against him twice and donated money and time to elect real conservative candidates instead of the trash RINOs that voted for JBE and made Clay speaker.

frick off.

Louisiana has always had a fiscally liberal and socially conservative populist and government. It is what it is.

It’s actually a pretty good plan. They are rolling back extra spending that Edwards wanted and using the money provided by the Feds along with some rainy day money to fund what is basically a stand still budget.

I see nothing wrong here. Why lay-off people and not fully fund TOPS and healthcare when you have the funding?

I don’t see any tax increases and remember this is for one year. If the economy doesn’t rebound then the budget will have to be cut mid year, but no one knows what will happen by then.

You remember how we already voted on fantasy sports gaming, and then the legislature said, nah, we were just joking, and completely went against the will of the people?

Why do you think sports betting would be any different? They have designed this the same way... it will take a legislative vote to approve the rules, even if local parishes approve the concept.

We voted for SG too so what do we see, pols fighting the will if the people. On the other hand we voted down the Mental Health deal do what did the pols do? Had a second election right away, I see a pattern here. Elections don’t count unless we vote the right way.

What's the line the Dems like to use? Never let a crisis go to waste?

All we heard about was how this legislature was going to be different. This is a golden chance for them to rein some spending, and make some structural changes (as much aas they can do without a constitutional convention) to set this state on the right foot for years into the future.

And so now, Oh gee, they aren't going to spend more money we don't have, that's what passes for victory?

These RINOs will bitch and moan the next time they think the Feds are overstepping their grounds, but they have NO problem sucking from the Federal tit.

They are no better than the locals and the citizens who want to suck from the state's tit.

Mind you, I'm not surprised in the least.

They aren’t spending money they don’t have.

Now would I like them to reform nursing home rules, of cut out support of the film industry with all that welfare? Sure I would, but that’s stuff you do when things are settled. The state is facing an impending recession. Putting funds that you have to use can offset some if the problems and keep things from being even worse.

But if you look at the big picture, by January 1, 2021 we will all know if we have rebounded and we are out of the woods, Then major cuts will have to be made further hurting the economy. Between now and then people need to be doing their homework.
