Flu deaths now average about 36,000 a year, up from 20,000 in previous estimates, the CDC

I haven't been worried about the Corona virus to date.

But after researching the flu mortality rates, makes me wonder if I need a flu shot.

36,000 deaths annually is surprising.

Is it surprising that as more and more people live in a country that the deaths for a disease would go up?

That is 0.01% of the population. It is basically getting rid of people in the worst of health or situations.
