Yeah, that was in response to being insulted and not seeking revenge.

Protection of yourself and others is a good application of "love your neighbor as yourself".

those crazy fricks dont give a shite..the only thing they concern themselves with is to kill. even if it means being killed themselves. They should IMO be considered terrorists and treated as such

Several people, including myself, carry firearms at my church. I've done it for years. It's prudent with Islam and atheism gaining footholds in this country due to the rejection of the truth of the gospel.

And don't forget about those lions. Christians are always being eaten by lions.

The Bible isn't the truth. it is to you but it's not to me and it isnt most people.

All baptist churches in Jackson have at least a half-dozen gun carrying patrons.

I believe he was referring to having mass amounts of vets armed at schools across the country. Some that may have undiagnosed PTSD. Shitting hikes would come from the vets is his argument

Im an atheist but on occasion go to church or church events with my wife and family

When i do, I'm armed because some people aren't content to merely disagree with the people attending.

Ignore that fig.

Out church is protected as well. Off duty cops and others carrying concealed.

Its rather prudent.

Not really since the first and 2nd centuries A.D.

That doesn't make sense. If the Bible isn't true, whether or not I believe it as such is irrelevant. Likewise, if it is true, your lack of faith that it is true is irrelevant. It's either true or it is not, and I believe that it is objectively true.

I was surprised that no one fired back in the church in Texas. One person shooting back might have radically changed the outcome. With every crowd of people now being a potential target for terrorism or a mentally ill person, it's prudent to have a defensive capability. Even if it's only spontaneous.

Why not mak the church a gun free zone and have people go through metal detectors?

because that strategy has already failed in other venues that have been attacked

and because they are making a statement

Gun free zones only make law-abiding citizens free of guns. Those signs don't deter people who are willing to commit murder.

And metal detectors? You think someone with a gun is going to care about metal detectors if no one else in the building carries a gun (because of the gun-free zone)? Yeah, they'll walk right through the red lights and buzzing sounds and start shooting people.

My church on any given Sunday has at least 6-8 people who are concealed carry including multiple Fed Law enforcement Officers. We don't advertise it, but we are armed.

Specifically, having armed vets at every school would without a doubt increase the number of school shootings over what we have now.

Well you see many churches in this country already allow parishioners to carry firearms in church. Some even have groups that train together. So we have real life facts that contradict your statement.

You should advertise. Mentally ill people, even though they usually die from being shot or by suicide after the massacre, look for easy targets. They want to take as many victims as possible with them to death. If any group of people is known to them to be armed, the mentally ill person will choose another target.
