UF sets the benchmark for education nationwide

Unpopular opinion from this crowd, but UF reputation is about to take a drop. Faculty still think their views are insulated as long as they bring in the cash.

That's mot true anymore at UF. There's no more cash to bring in as the programs are all frozen. It will be interesting to see how biomedical responds... but from my lowly perch they seem fricked compared to other departments.

Recruitment from China (in English) is picking up and might be enticing to some, especially the progs.

Good for UF.

The university wanted to hire the guy. Good for the Florida Board of Governors. They vetoed it.

Bravo to the FL board of governors. But unanimous? What the hell is wrong with the UF board of trustees?

The decision by the 17-member board, which serves as the governing body for the state's 12 public universities, comes a week after UF's Board of Trustees unanimously approved Ono for president on May 27.

If you cannot see the absurdity in this - UF is a cesspool on the board of trustees

Would have been a weird hire for Gator

People thought Tate was going to be bad for LSU

Ono has legit history and documentation of this stuff while leading a major university

What’s really unfortunate is that we value things completely unrelated to competence in our Presidential candidates.

And we consider it a "win" if we get someone who is middle of the road.

Same thing with supreme court justices, we consider it a "win" if we get someone who just follows the constitution. They consider it a win when they get some DEI candidate who will vote for anything against the president constitutional or not. So the scales continue to slide further and further to the left and we think by keeping it from completely falling off a cliff we "win". And we end up where we are now.....

Arguing that prisoners should not have trans care, arguing to deport criminals, fighting with citizens to arrest rapists and murderers and we are the bad guys. Having to put a law in place to tell the states to stop stealing 100s of billions in medicaid. Its so tiresome.

Watch for an incoming political conservative with zero educational experience to be the next President

So someone MUCH better than a goose-stepper that was dumb enough to do the following:

quote:

support of diversity, equity and inclusion programs during his time as president of the University of Michigan, and for allowing an encampment of pro-Palestinian protesters to remain on campus for a month. He also was questioned at length about his views on antisemitism, and holistic versus merit-based admissions.

The left is vile.

No wonder you supported him.

Then again, you would support any authoritarian lefty.
