Walmart yesterday - Angus ribeye price jump 20% in less than a week.

Standard ribeyes, up about 22%.

Local grocery store today: Angus choice ribeye, up $4,per pound from a couple weeks ago....

Other beef products were all way, way over where they just days ago. Regular ground beef prices are now what ground chuck used to be.

How bout another round of checks and more meat shortages for what has essentially been seasonal flu that does not even affect children!!!!

Don't buy it. Find a rancher or a local slaughterhouse and buy from them.
The ranchers are getting an extremely low price and the packers are jacking it up

Farmers Market. Better beef, better prices.

The 73% was 4.38/lb

Luckily i found some 93% that was 4.27/lb.

4.5 lb of memorial day burgers.

Only gonna get worse. Meat plant here in Oklahoma in the Panhandle town of Guymon just went down too. Of some 2000+ employees, 450+ popped positive for the currvid.

A friend bought a 21 lb choice whole brisket the other day for $35. $1.67/lb. Kroger is just giving certain meats away right now.

I've been going with chicken, frozen shrimp and catfish, and pork loin when I can find it. After 3 weeks of going without steaks I bought a lb of sirloin for $17 at Walmart. I marinated it for 4 hours. Cut it up into bite size pieces and cooked the hell out of it stove top to carmelization. It was great but it was only 1/2 lb. which = $34/lb.
Sirloin these days is low quality beef but it's all you can get at many stores.

20% or so is a lot but not "staggering"

If it is too much people won't eat it and it will go back down.

A month ago, I bought a hog and a cow from a local farmer for slaughter. Best. Decision. Ever. With a family of 5, I won’t need meat for months and months.

This is not true everywhere. I bought 5#’s yesterday of 73/27 ground meat for $2/lb. Roasts were cheap and bone in ribeyes were in line as well.

I think it is store/region specific. Here in my part of Houston, we haven’t had an issue with beef since the first couple of weeks of this nonsense.

I went to Kroger today and the only beef they had was ground beef. I was going to get some round steak but no dice.

It could have been that they had a ton of pork ribs for Memorial Day.

At Sam's today

Hamburger was about the same but steak was very limited. Had to buy a whole tenderloin to get any. 112.00 for a tenderloin.

Only one they had.

Chuck used to be 3.99/lb at my store. It’s at 8.99/lb. But some people don’t think the increase is real thing because they can go to Rouses and buy pork sirloin for $1 pound.

That's a steal of the century. I'd have bought four of them.
