When U.S. free trade policy enables companies to offshore production, the report states, American employees are not the only ones directly impacted by such moves. Towns and communities as a whole, along with Americans in supporting industries, feel the devastating impact as well.

In Rep. Tim Ryan’s northeast Ohio district, nearly 25,000 manufacturing jobs have been lost over the last two decades. At the same time, drug overdose deaths in the area have skyrocketed by 400 percent in some communities.

My former employer moved 2000 jobs offshore suing the maga tax rebates for big business.

It's a hollowing out of our economy, and long-term it will prove self-defeating. Trump or DeSantis needs to make hay on this. At a minimum, there should be a concerted/funded effort to reshore manufacturing of critical/strategic goods. Rather than investing 100's of billions in BS green energy, reduce regulations and make low interest loans available for reshoring projects.

Wut

I believe in free trade and limited government, not Leftist trade protection to benefit lower level union jobs.

I want our economy to advance, not devolve.

Both already have a record on this. Trump killed TPP, tariffed foreign steel and aluminum for national security reasons, nixed Chinese pass throughs by nixing NAFTA and replacing it with USMCA, putting tariffs on Canadian lumber, just to name a few America first trade policies.

As congressman, DeSantis voted to give Obama fast track authority on TPP. (The treaty was eventually killed due to Trump.)

You’re right, Trump already has a record on this.

Our trade deficit grew under Trump.

Our manufacturing goods deficit grew even more.

There is no positive inflection point during his tenure.

Went through this in 2016.

We do not have free trade. We have disadvantage trade. The concept of free trade is great on paper. In Practice it is destructive to a nation.

In the USA, we can no longer make vital needs as shown by Covid.

It's because the RINOs sold a bill of goods to the people of the USA that they are better off giving up their jobs for a cheap product.

Wrong. Leftist economy is the Government owns it. Nobody is promoting that.
