Which canon does this violate?

More than one.

Canon 1- They just tried to undermine the SCOTUS.

Canon 2: A Judge Should Avoid Impropriety and the Appearance of Impropriety in all Activities.

should act at all times in a manner that promotes public confidence in the integrity and impartiality of the judiciary.

This is not what this interview did. They did not promote that. They did the opposite.

Canon 3A(6).

The admonition against public comment about the merits of a pending or impending matter continues until the appellate process is complete. If the public comment involves a case from the judge’s own court, the judge should take particular care so that the comment does not denigrate public confidence in the judiciary’s integrity and impartiality, which would violate Canon 2A.

Because that is exactly what it is.

Probably #3 and #5

Canon 1: A Judge Should Uphold the Integrity and Independence of the Judiciary. This canon requires judges to maintain and enforce high standards of conduct, personally observing those standards to preserve the judiciary's integrity and independence.

Canon 2: A Judge Should Avoid Impropriety and the Appearance of Impropriety in All Activities. Judges must avoid both actual impropriety and the appearance of impropriety in their professional and personal lives to promote public confidence in the integrity and impartiality of the judiciary.

Canon 3: A Judge Should Perform the Duties of the Office Fairly, Impartially, and Diligently. Judges are obligated to carry out their judicial responsibilities without favoritism, ensuring fairness and impartiality while upholding the law with diligence and competence.

Canon 4: A Judge May Engage in Extrajudicial Activities That Are Consistent with the Obligations of Judicial Office. While judges can participate in educational, religious, charitable, fraternal, or civic activities, such participation must not detract from the dignity of the office, interfere with duties, or create conflicts of interest.

Canon 5: A Judge Should Refrain From Political Activity. Judges are prohibited from engaging in political activities that could compromise their impartiality, except for the right to vote and activities related to the appointment of other judges.

I read the article and don’t see any instances of a judge commenting about the merits of pending litigation. I see a pretty tame criticism of how the court has been acting on its shadow docket.

So they went to NBC news to tell the world they’re not smart enough to figure out what the Supreme Court is telling them?

Not a good look for a federal judge.

Probably makes them as qualified as 2/9 of SCOTUS TBH.

It appears that Roberts is close to his wits end from what I've read. This latest stunt may prove to be the proverbial straw.

It’s talked about in the article linked in the first post of this thread. Why don’t you read it?

When a Federal Judge states this:

“It is inexcusable,” a judge said of the Supreme Court justices.

“It’s almost like the Supreme Court is saying it is a ‘judicial coup,’” the judge said.

That is in reference to SCOTUS decissions... thus merit. It also goes a step more and you cut that out:

If the public comment involves a case from the judge’s own court, the judge should take particular care so that the comment does not denigrate public confidence in the judiciary’s integrity and impartiality, which would violate Canon 2A.

Can't leave that out. They undermined PUBLIC CONFIDENCE in the SCOTUS. Period. They sat down to throw stones at the highest court.

It would take 16 libtard members of the house flipping in order to impeach a judge and that's not likely to happen.

However, Roberts is a firm believer in the absolute authority of the SCOTUS in these judicial matters and he knows he's already pissed-off Gorsuch, Kavanaugh and, to a lesser extent ACB recently ... by failing to slap down some of these activist judges with opinions when overturning their cases.

Gorsuch did it on his own in a scathing smack down on one of the cases recently overturned.

Roberts does demand some sense of authority over his court and he's lost face by allowing these cases to simply be overturned without forceful rebuttals.

Word is that he's about to go scorched earth ... particularly on certain cases where the lower courts are attempting to ignore or overrule previously determined judgements already handed down by SCOTUS under Roberts.

Where Roberts screwed the pooch was allowing things to go this far by allowing libtard politicians along with the two bitches KJB and Sotomayor to question his courts decisions ... without reprimanding them. Then, when Ron Johnson and Ted Cruz and Trump started openly blasting the court .... Roberts feigned indignation.

Now he's backed into a corner with only one way out.
