July 15...2026?
There must be minimal amounts of evidence and no likely superseding indictments if it's that quick.

It has been said...The investigation and gathering of evidence took 9 months to a year.

The charges arise from Comey's May 15, 2025, Instagram post, where prosecutors interpret '86' as slang for 'kill' and '47' as Trump's presidential number, calling it a true threat. U.S. District Judge Louise W. Flanagan set the July 15 trial date on May 8 in North Carolina's Eastern District, after a grand jury re-indicted Comey on April 28, 2026, following a prior case collapse. Comey deleted the post, apologized as a 'stupid beach game,' and faces up to 20 years if convicted; pretrial motions are due June 5, with arraignment on June 30.

A 2-month turnaround in the federal system is incredibly short. That's almost no time to prepare for the defense, which means that the evidence will be minimal. It's likely already been exchanged, mind you, and the defense has seen all the evidence prior to agreeing to this trial date.

Obviously they just want to ensure they are upholding his Constitutional speedy trial right.

If you believe that with all of 2 very thin dogshit counts, then my opinion of USA's is being revised. With 9 mos and all they could get is some stupid picture and the fact that he transmits it over Twitter????
I've known judges that will set a date for spurious charges only so they could get it on the record that they thought the prosecutors were morons for wasting the court's time.

Is anyone really surprised to see TDSFP wish casting for Comey?

He probably won’t be convicted.
But all of this is costing him a shite ton in legal bills.
That fact alone makes me smile.
