WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The U.S. Federal Communications Commission is expected on Thursday to rescind rules that were aimed at ensuring a free and open internet, as protesters gathered online and in front of FCC headquarters to oppose the change.

Many Republicans back Pai's proposal but want Congress to write net neutrality rules. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said the FCC would "return the internet to a consumer-driven marketplace free of innovation-stifling regulations."
What a clueless fricking statement.

Well this is disappointing. It really isn't a fair and open marketplace with a true doorway to open competition. :holdontoyourbutts:

Net Neutrality is worth dying for because benevolent, non-profit Google and Facebook told me so!

Good.
Now let's get a fix that doesn't require title 2 classification.

Any particular reason beyond that your favorite team supports it?

Eh, I'm sure some things will happen. I'm sure there will be a company out there that will try something stupid. Luckily, there are companies that won't and companies like Time Warner/Comcast that won't be able to do what the sky is falling people say will happen. So, we will see how the market rewards/penalizes the company that does something stupid.

Like being in favor of similar type regulations as long as they didn't include Title 2?

It's sad really. You have no idea what you're talking about. Carry on.

Like I said in another thread. This is the scary part.
This isn't Big Corp vs the little guy. This is Big Corp vs Big Corp. And the side that controls all of the content is winning the narrative.

Your internet in 2015 abided by net neutrality even if not yet formalized.

Honestly, there is so much bad information out there on this topic, that it will be hard to find something truly worth reading. It is like what climate change topics have turned into. The mis-information on both sides has gotten so out of hand, any legitimate discussion is almost impossible.

If we'd kept NN, internet access would double in price, and you'd hear people who are currently VOCAL supporters of NN saying things like "Why should I have to pay $300 for the whole internet when I only want to goto about a dozen sites?"
