Justice Department investigators have all but concluded they do not have a strong enough case to bring civil rights charges against Darren Wilson, the white police officer who shot and killed an unarmed black teenager in Ferguson, Mo., law enforcement officials said.

When racial tension boiled over in Ferguson after the Aug. 9 shooting, Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. traveled to the St. Louis suburb to meet with city leaders and protest organizers in an effort to bring calm. He assured them that the federal government would open a civil rights investigation into the fatal shooting of Michael Brown. But that investigation now seems unlikely to result in any charges.

“The evidence at this point does not support civil rights charges against Officer Wilson,” said one person briefed on the investigation, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the case.

Justice Department officials are loath to acknowledge publicly that their case cannot now meet the high legal threshold for a successful civil rights prosecution. The timing is sensitive: Tensions are high in greater St. Louis as people await the results of a grand jury’s review of the case.

Here is what I would like to ask Don Lemon (CNN anchor who went "all in" on the racist angle) and other talking heads, networks, etc. about this cluster-cuss.

Initial question: Please list all evidence that led you to believe that Wilson was some sort of racist cop who killed Brown for no reason.

They would answer (the only possible answer): The eyewitness testimony

Follow up question: Once the eyewitness testimony was proven to be false by the autopsy, why didn't you change your theory? You were very vocal initially. Given the violence that is occurring in Ferguson (citizens and law enforcement officials are involved in heated protest to this day) and given the amount of influence you have, why didn't you attempt to correct the record? Or do you still believe your initial hypothesis was correct?

Wasn't the grand jury supposed to reach their decision in October?

Anonymous is the entity that leaked the November 10th date and "no indictment" result. Obviously that's a week from Monday, but it is in line with the expected announcement.

Yea, no use releasing this before voting day. Could you imagine the possible arguments in a polling line ?

Don Lemon is one of those "Facts don't matter" types.

He's a stain on the CNN brand.

What a shock!!! The federal government should not have had any involvement in this whole episode other than to assist in stopping the riots if needed. Legally, this is and always was strictly a state/local issue.

This could be good. People will distrust government even more and look for more revolutionary change.

I think the only reason Holder is giving up is that he's on his way out anyway.

An innocent man not being railroaded and lynched to appease the mob will not lead us to your socialist utopia Ralph.

Btw, how can you be a socialist and talk about the distrust of government. You're like the worst socialist ever.

For the protection of innocent people and property, I do hope they have the sense to give the date and time of the announcement a day ahead of time.
