Sure, but I mean taxes aren't going away. So if my tax dollars are going to be spent might as well be on something worthwhile. This doesn't bother me.

Some of y'all are missing the big point here. It's not that we're paying for it, it's that the FCC is doing it. They biggest group of spineless censors in the country. Take everything out of context and are obsessed with what you can see. This is Big Brother so they can more effectively spy on you and control what you see and hear.

Enlighten me then. Is your point that struggling people shouldn't be getting this assistance?

Cox was already doing this.

as usual, totally missing the point. listen, if you want to DONATE some of your money to needy families, have at it. but the rest of americans shouldn't be FORCED to have their tax money go to that program enabling people to continue to leech off everyone else. right?

and it seems like you didn't read the thread or else you wouldn't have used the word "worthwhile"

Okay Mr this doesn't bother me. Give me $50/month.

I mean, taxes aren't like an a la carte menu . You don't get to directly choose what the money gets spent on.

And I think the program is worthwhile. Easier internet access is needed for poor families.

Of course you do. It’s called voting. It just doesn’t work often.

Fair enough. I'm all for lower taxes, but I also support programs that can give struggling people a boost, and I think this can.

wow. how do you people get like this?

get this - if we aren't throwing money away that we can't afford on stupid programs like giving people free stuff, TAXES MIGHT ACTUALLY GO DOWN. then, you get to keep more of YOUR MONEY and spend it on things that you actually CHOOSE to spend it on.

instead, we have these enablement programs that cause our taxes to go up and we don't get a choice in the matter.

Me giving $50 to some dude on the internet is not the same as the government using the money they get from taxes to subsidize internet.

I completely understand this concept. I just don't have an issue with this program, as I think it's useful.
