The repeal of net neutrality means that this is our future.

Bottom line: I want my ISP to be a dumb data pipe that sends and receives data from other servers around the world. I don't want them being involved in any way in CONTENT unless that content is guaranteed not to interfere with the rest of the Internet. So whatever achieves this is what I am for.

To be honest I don't have a problem with that but the FCC/government would have to dissolve Comcast/NBC Universal and prohibit Google, T, VZ, Amazon and any other carrier from owning content.

If all internet traffic users had identical characteristics your question would be valid. But they aren't so it isn't.

traffic is traffic

You are probably the guy who uses the modem/router combo your ISP gives you and then wonders why you are not getting the speeds you pay for.

Let me pretend for a moment that your vision is correct.

OK. I'm not scared.

Now what.

I'm not saying you should be scared, but this is the reality of what is happening.

Well why did they collude to stop Google from further expanding as an ISP?

Because it allows the FCC to require all internet traffic to be treated equally.

They tried to do this without the title 2 classification. The courts struck it down.

Per the courts, net neutrality requires title 2 classification under current law.

The courts ruled that the FCC did not do an adequate job of proving a source of legal authority to police such rules, not that it had to be Title 2. Republicans actually introduced a method of doing so in 2014 that would have avoided Tittle II reclassification. Democrats didn't want that though, they want their public utility.

Not too mention as a general rule, anything George Soros promotes is probably a really bad thing. Unless of course you like that globalist thing.

I’ll take your Soros and raise you Comcast.

Some of you people believe this is what will happen if NN is not implemented.

So you are denying the FACT that companies have already been caught throttling and trying to stifle competitors?

You mean like that time the ISPs was blamed for throttling Netflix, but it actually wasn't the ISPs fault?

I simply stated that the internet will be restricted and it we will end up paying more for less. People didn't have any internet for thousands of years, so it isn't exactly a death star scenario

So it costs the same thing to build a two-lane road as it does an eight-lane interstate? After all, traffic is traffic, amirite?

I'm done with this topic. The drama queens and fear mongers are out of control in these threads.

Net neutrality is dying and that's a good thing.

You mean like ISPs weren't picking winners and losers? Netflix pays to be a winner.

I just find it funny how convinced people are that that exactly will happen. It has gone from "this is a potential thing that could happen" to "this is what will happen. period". AT&T and Comcast won't be able to do that if we got rid of NN today.
