TLDR: article is rather slanted, but basically the FBI is not a “few bad apples” it’s a barrel of rot with a few decent Americans in it.

The reasoning behind FBI agents not speaking up is the same reason doctors didn’t on the vaccines.
Fear of job loss.

As to the OP...I guess punishing whistleblowers against the big brother machine is (D)ifferent.

Exactly.
And that is the biggest piss poor excuse every time its brought up. Lets see, you have to uphold the oath you swore to or absolutely destroy dozens of families because you were to lazy to get off your arse and find another job.
You know the guards at Auschwitz had the same excuse.
When mueller took over the FBI he changed policy and dictated all field office managers and direct reports rotate through DC, nost took their 20 and retired, which is what he wanted....and replaced them with strozaks, whose direct reports became little stozaks, over 20 years the agency has become a strozak entity loyal to the agency not the country or any govt entity.

The same reason a lot of teachers who are against CRT indoctrination don't speak up about it being pushed on schools.
The federal government needs a massive reset to remove a lot of this power. DC and its surrounding areas seem to have become a region which behaves as royal courtesans to the regency of the President and Congress. This is usually worse under Democrat control as the Democrat mindset is more desirous of heavy centralization of power into just a few hands (much like a monarchy).

FBI agents are Excepted Service employees. The DO NOT have the same protections as other government employees that are Career Status employees.

So regressives like no knock warrants again?

Didn’t we learn that the left was against No Knock raids re: Breonna Taylor (which they actually knocked)? As is typical, the left continues to act hypocritically.

Would prefer a more principled stance of not participating in no-knock raids period.

This is the same shite the Nazis did to keep the German people quiet as they took power.

With tenure, I think this is a little different. A public school teacher almost needs to sleep with a kid to get fired, and that firing is not certain.

you're not wrong, but it's a lot easier said than done. I havent been put in the spot yet where I have to make that call (I'm a Marine), but I can certainly see a future where I may have to. It's more than just job loss. It's possibly losing your family. Look at Stu Scheller and what they did to him and what happened to him. Dude lost everything.
It's not easy.

There are supposed to be legal protections for whistleblowers, but that must only go one way.
