The Feds have been giving them to locals. My county is getting one for free, so of course they are taking it. And once they figure out what it costs to maintain the will be sure to find a reason to use it.
And no, I have never agreed with it. Police and sheriff departments have no business, nor need, to be armed like a brigade taking Fallujah.
