As a Black woman and working professional, I've never been a huge fan of affirmative action and the recent rise of critical theory, and diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives has only bolstered my resistance. While it may seem necessary to some in order to right the wrongs of the past, I can sum up why these measures are an unmitigated disaster for hard-working Black Americans in two words:

Fani Willis.

At no higher rate than white politicians.

Now, had you posted "democrat led cities' black politicians are scum" ... that would have been hard to argue with.

There are plenty of good black politicians out there, some with far more integrity than many, if not most, white politicians. Tim Scott, also that Byron fellow down in Florida, Larry Elder that ran for President ... and there are plenty of others.

Women are the main issue in politics. Far more destructive and chaotic than any other caucus.

She makes good points. In a true meritocracy the hard cold fact would be fewer black people in high places. BUT the ones who get there will have earned it and go on to better represent their race.

Even with the statistical difference, there will still be many legitimate black greats like the NASA ladies, Louis Armstrong, Richard Pryor, Michael Jordan and so forth. Just fewer Fanis.

You’re right. It’s demorat black politicians that are scum. Tim Scott, Byron Donalds and others on the Republican and conservative side are good so far.

How convenient that Newsweek omitted Kamala Harris, LaToya, Beetlejuice, and Cori Bush, among others that I have not listed. Anyone else want to contribute to this list?

Makes ya wonder why some intelligent, proactive, enterprising inventor, dedicated black entrepreneur hasn't gone back and started a billion dollar company with all of the natural resources and cheap labor since every thing in the history of the world was created by a forgotten black person. You'd think one could come up with another genius idea?

LBJ started this crap to get blacks to vote Democrat and they have ever since. Politicians in Chicago, NYC, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C. were corrupt long before the first black mayor or black city councilman was ever elected. They just continued to feed at the trough. Look no further than Mitch Landrieu in New Orleans for an example of this.

Shame on Fani Willis and every corrupt person who allowed her to take the path of least resistance just to fill a quota. You've doomed us all.

What an Aunt Tom!

JK, but the fact that this lady, obviously a talented and thoughtful writer, will get screeched at by white liberals and "empowered" blacks alike tells you all you need to know...

What was grammatically wrong with her statement?

If you are zeroed in on that word, let me share the advice my High School English teacher drilled into our heads. The 'grammar' of that sentence is correct.

Beware of "'of' phrases'."

She had a small speech affectation - adding 'tsk-tsk' sounds into her sentences at odd times.

"Beware of 'tsk-tsk-tsk' 'of-phrases'" still rings in my ears 70 years later.

Thank you again, Mrs. Pollard - the best teacher I have ever known and the architect of most of my better intellectual qualities.

And there are hundreds of Leesville High School alumni who would second that praise.
