Sweet. Just bought me a new AR this weekend.

Then you have epipens, duct tape, GPS, the internet, hell even general purpose computers were all originally designed for military use.

My AR doesn’t like to be naked.

You mean like the 2 semi-automatic handguns that the Va Tech shooter used?

GPS
Yes, it's in every smart phone but apparently needs to be banned.
Also, radar (microwave oven), the jet engine, and nylon synthetics.

It wouldn't even come to that. He'd just have to rack a round and they'd run off.

The inventor of the .gif says it's pronounced "jif". That doesn't make him right...
I think it kinda does. I pronounce it "jif" if only to piss off all the autists who go nuts when anyone doesn't pronounce it "gif".

That's a blanket statement. Both have advantages and disadvantages in different situations. A lot of soldiers in Iraq were using the AK47 due to the heavier rounds penetrating walls better and also due to the AK never jamming which has always been an advantage it has over other rifles.
I'm sorry, but this is absolutely positively false. "A lot of soldiers" were not using the AK47 in Iraq. Very very very few soldiers used them in Iraq. The M4/AR15 is an very reliable weapon, and given basic maintenance that virtually every single soldier is capable of performing, it's not going to be noticeably less reliable than the AK47.
The downsides of using an AK47 would obliterate the supposed upside of increased penetration capabilities. Optics, lasers, and ergonomics are massively important to an army that fights at night. Nobody is ditching those to carry a hunk of shite AK47 they found on the street.
And I'll bust a myth for you right now: PLENTY of Iraqis and Afghans had malfunctioning AK47s. Treat a weapon like shite and it will perform like shite.

Smart move. Can you imagine the sort of hell that family would receive if they said anything different?

I read Eugene Stoner's book years ago ... and own a collection of his AR-7 rifles as well as two AR-10s, although I got rid of all my AR-15s and I'm going to sell the two AR-10s in favor of my SIG 716s but, nonetheless ... I feel like I do know what the man would say to his remaining family, were he still alive.
Stoner would say, shut the frick up. I didn't bring you onto this earth in order for you to speak for me after I'm dead while spending my millions and not accomplishing a thing on your own other that to insert our family name into a political fight we'd best stay the frick out of.
I'm pretty sure that's what Gene would say.
It always baffles my mind when kids, while offering no imperical evidence whatsoever, pretend to speak for their disabled or dead famous parents. It just blows my mind.

Yeah, it is. I've fallen victim to that mythology more than once myself.

Actually, I keep 2- #6 in my 870 at home, backed by 00 buck.
Choke affects buck shot too. 2 3/4 spread difference is significantly different at 25 yards VS modified or full.

I’d say they are correct:
Sorry. That it doesn’t agree with you’re position.
At close range, reduced recoil loads seem to shoot a tighter pattern. But the difference is small, i.e., 1 3/4 to 4 inches. As always, you have to aim a shotgun at close range. The patterns are tight.
At moderate ranges (20 yards), the loads had an average spread of around 9 to 17 inches. This is getting big enough that, unless carefully aimed, many pellets will miss a bad guy.
3. At long ranges, even 45 yards, you will miss with more pellets that you will hit with. The question might be, “Why would you shoot at someone at 45 yards?” Well, if he is at 45 yards and shooting at me, I will return fire. If a shotgun is all I have, I will use that. But understand that you will have a lot of missed pellets.
Reduced recoil loads are easier on the shoulder to shoot. But, you don’t get something for nothing. That also means that they will not have the total energy that a heavier load will have. You have to make a choice and go with it.
