He is not "questioning policy." He is deflecting reasonable ire for the media onto Trump. He wants Americans to ignore the purpose of the post and to only focus negative attention on Trump.
The logical question is, "Why is Massie running cover for the media?" And the logical answer is, "Because Massie will ally with anyone, no matter how unconservative they are, as long as they both attack Trump."
Massie can't do anything anymore unless it is to smear Trump. He still fools many, though.
