Rush has been notorious about making things up completely to elaborate on his narratives. I never understood why he does it when the point can easily be made without doing it (stupid stuff like claiming there are more trees now than when Columbus landed here - which is deliberately misleading in context). He makes good points on his own, then adds in these "facts" that are objectively false.

I'm not sure if he does it to fill time, or to act more as a Conservative "shock jock".

There's a reason he's at the bottom of my list of radio show hosts. Just because someone is a Conservative Radio host doesn't make them a "good" one by default.
