There were even spots in typically cooler Coconino County in northern Arizona that were excessively hot this summer. They include the bottom of the Grand Canyon, which was at times as high as 115 degrees (46 degrees Celsius).
Yeah, umm, the bottom of the GC is always hot this time of year. Maybe just warmer than usual.
Also, the Flagstaff area has been warmer than usual but the winds up there feel like air conditioner breezes even during monsoon season, and open windows at night cool your homes to 60°F.
Been hotter than hell down in the valley for sure but it's not like they haven't seen that before. It's the fricking dry desert.

This is their next move. Use "climate change" to put us under a SOE. Remember Dems only let go of the Covid SOE when Rs took back the house.
We need to end Governors being able to become mini dictators using SOE

I also see some mighty nice nighttime lows too on that chart

Are you OK with Governors using BS to make themselves into mini dictators?
The use of SOE power needs limits on it.

Really hot outside =/= declaring a state of emergency which is a ruse to get federal funding.
Maybe I just understand the game better than you do

Who is “we” there? Despite your fan designation im pretty sure you aren’t an AZ resident.
It seems like you don’t have a full grasp of dual sovereignty. There’s very very little the federal government could do to prevent States from defining what constitutes an emergency as it relates to state money and state agencies.
ETA: Let’s pretend Kari Lake was governor of Arizona and took this exact action. Would there even be a thread on it?

The states ability to recover money from fedgov is totally separate. Biden would have to declare an SOE in Arizona for that.
Hobb’s order seems to only involve releasing state money. At least how it’s represented in the OP

Will the governor's mansion turn off it's AC system and open the windows like they want everyone to do?
Ask the dumbshit Gov. in charge that question.

Jesus Christ, dude
I am speaking in general for all Governors and our Federal Government. JBE kept us under a CV SoE for way longer than needed. All Dem Governors did and so did Biden on a Federal level. It was all BS and a power grab.

I fully understand. I think each state needs to enact limits on Governors being able to make themselves dictators. I have said this numerous times on here and my stance hasn't changed. It's a workaround for Governors that needs to be checked.
You are clearly OK with it, though.

There are no night time lows on that chart. That chart shows the highest temperature recorded during the month of August at the Buckeye weather station (just outside of Phoenix) for all recorded years.
Here are the lowest temperatures recorded during the month of August at the same station:

Nah I decidedly don’t give a damn, because I’m not an Arizona resident.
But even if I were, no I wouldn’t be freaking out because the State released money to state agencies and state subdivisions to deal with heat-related issues.
Would you consider this order an extreme act of tyranny if Kari Lake signed it?

Hobbs said in a statement Friday that the declaration will allow the state to reimburse various government entities for funds spent on providing relief from high temperatures.
Did they try this first?
