Looks like income redistribution to me.
It's probably not necessary. Not a fan. But... Those incentives come with pretty strong hiring requirements. Quite a few companies didn't get to collect. I'll try to find the article I was reading the other day about it.

Some give up the incentive when they adjust to the difference in productivity v. California and need fewer employees.

Yea I've worked with people who left Cali 20 years ago in desperation fleeing the high cost of living, it's nothing new.

You see the movie industry forgoing Hollywood for places like New Zealand or Atlanta Ga., again, it has been for decades. The liberal hollywood types will go where needed to bring in a fat check. The writers guild strike screwed over enough people that they won't want to live through that anytime soon.

Meanwhile the socialist fascists like Obomba will try and kill any company tied to govt business from moving to an open shop state, (hello Boeing), and the idiotard Republicans will bend over and take in the rear like they are good at.

Bring the jobs. Leave the people. We will recruit our own.

+1

Those who pulled the lever in favor of the big government politicians and their ideas in California need to stay there. Plenty of people in TX, LA and OK willing to take the jobs.

I will say that it's interesting to see my little pocket turning so Libertarian so quickly. It's a nice break from the hard core "conservatives."

Any time a state government cuts taxes to entice businesses to relocate or open within their border, it's a great decision. Maybe our federal government will take a hint, but as long as we have democrats, we'll never really make any headway as a country.

It may be a little hyperbolic, but it does describe a hell of a lot of Texans.

And in California, you get scolded if you hold the door for a woman, as it is seen ads "sexist".

Has happened to me twice here.

It describes a lot of America. In no way is Texas bigoted more than any other place. Especially with the diversity here, it's just ignorant to think that is true.

WELL, you must be an expert then. I guess I'll have to ignore things like economic data and demographics and listen to you.

Wait, I thought Obamacare ensured that everyone would get healthcare?

What it describes is a helluva lot of folks in a lot of areas of the country, not just Texas.

Does the state have places like that aplenty? Sure.

Is it also pretty damn diverse and very accepting overall? Absolutely.

I mean, for crying out loud, my old hometown (San Antonio, obviously) is like 60% latino...and not more than 30 minutes to the north is a huge fricking German community (New Braunfels). Keep heading north up I-35 and you'll hit a shitload of Czechs

The person who made that statement sounds like one of those people who asks me if I ride/own horses when they hear I'm from Texas--and is only half-kidding.

I'm just saying if you're moving to Texas and have interests beyond Jesus, the Cowboys, and the deer lease, (and not necessarily in that order), you'll have to look around a bit to find likeminded people. Sure, downtown Houston is diverse, and that's great if you're young and single. If you're looking for an affordable, middle class place to raise a family, it's gonna be a whitebread suburb that's about as far from the Bay Area culturally as it is geographically.

You've never lived in Texas.

Want to know how I know that?

sounds great to me - except for the geographic part. I love California's natural beauty.

I have recently moved to rural Texas from Louisiana. I have no idea if my neighbors go to church or atheist. I don't know if they are pro- or anti- homosexual 'marriage,' They all appear to be white or Latino. it is a quarter-mile to the nearest black neighbor.

I don't care about the demographics and apparently neither do the others here.

I love Texas. Live and let live.

That comment wasn't about cutting taxes. I believe corp tax should be zero. What he was talking about was taking $40m from tax payers and giving it to Toyota to move some workers from Cali to Texas.

That, in fact, would be redistribution.
