Everyone should see “Won’t You Be My Neighbor”

I saw this documentary earlier today, and it is powerful. Everyone on all sides have become exceptionally uncivil with one another. What this world needs right now is a Mr Rogers. Unfortunately we don’t have one, at least in the mainstream media. The incivility has gotten out of control, and I think this documentary could help both sides come back down to Earth.
Fred Rogers is one of the greatest Americans of all time and it’s really hard to fathom that a man like him existed without thinking he was up to something nefarious. The fact that we have to look for something like that I don’t think highly speaks for us as a species, but I think he would disagree with me here. I’m a bit of a cynical arse, but someone like him does give me hope for a brighter future, even if my brain tells me we’re screwed. We need a man like Fred Rogers.

It makes it clear in the documentary that Rogers was a Republican and very faith based. If the Right stands against that now, then all hope is lost for civility.

That's not going to happen but I do agree with you that the Right needs to maintain its composure. The far left has been a scourge on human history and it's tactics are well-known and multi-generational. It does society no good for the right to stoop to its level.

The right is more than ready and capable, and when enough becomes enough they will do what needs to be done. How do you deal with a group that has made it crystal clear that if you don’t believe in their ideology they want you dead or never heard from again. This has gone waaaayyyyy to far to return to any civility my brother. It’s now simply a matter of time and the end want go well for the left wing crazies. Write that down and remember where you heard it.

I don’t know what the man’s politics were, but if he was on the left I can assure you he would not have called you subhuman, called for your harassment in public, boycott your business, compare you to a Nazi, insult the President or his family, demean, or do anything else the left has called for in recent weeks.

To be fair, look at this board. Look at posters like Wild Thang or SDVTiger. If a liberal poster killed themselves, they’d openly celebrate. This is not a one sided issue.

I hope the right learns from trump that you can stand up to these scoundrels and win. I hope they learn they can and that they do it with more composure and refinement than trump does, but my guess is they'll go back to apologizing to the left for not being liberal any time they demand it.
