The House can impeach with a majority vote.
If that happens, then the Senate can remove with a 2/3rds vote.
IMHO: There is no way the Senate shifts to 2/3rds Dem. I don't think they will probably even get a majority (though it will be close).
There is a non-zero reason Rs in the Senate would vote to convict.
If Trump continues to focus on things people didn't vote for (and in some cases voted against) and loses track of things people did vote for you could see a ruthless strategy evolve.
If Trump were convicted and Vance took the office, he could then run as the incumbent for 2 election cycles and have up to 10 years in office.
This is a gambit only chess-playing political strategists could see and consider and only the ones that were also as ruthless as Stone would dare to consider. Correctly played it could give a long-term strategic advantage that is rarely available concerning the presidency. There are a lot of ways it could go wrong and you have to get a dozen or so senators willing to take a leap. I don't see it happening, but tried and accomplished would be one of the great US political maneuvers; even if it failed, few people would even recognize it was tried. It is like a Budapest gambit; if it fails, you can still keep most people from thinking you are stupid.
