Woohoo, let’s bring back home the sweatshops!

Joking aside, tips are income, a waiter making $20/hr based on tips shouldn’t pay no tax while someone else making $20/hr in a non service job has too.

If you want to do mental gymnastics to support your dear leader then go ahead, but it makes no logical sense why that should be the case.

So should we go after restaurants that pay below minimum wage, making their employees rely on “gifts” for their work?

In an election between 2, its a real dilemma.

The choice presented was not "which candidate will you vote for?"

Especially since both candidates made this a part of their platform (which should be a clue to populists about how sound an idea it is that Harris adopted it also, but won't be.)

So it's still a false one.

people making minimum wage don't pay any taxes.

Yes they do.

They pay 7.5% FICA.

The waiter who has tips exempted will also presumably avoid the FICA taxes on the tips while the janitor still pays his.

A tip is a gift

You can call it that, but it's a "gift" that only gets given after a service has been rendered. So that's a fail.

an exchange between one person to another.

So is a paycheck. Another fail.

Should we tax your Christmas gift from Aunt Susie?

Nah, we should start encouraging companies to pay 20% of someone's normal income as a salary and call the other 80% a "tip."

Tax-free.

While I believe that we're all generally taxed WAY too high, if there aren't spending cuts to offset these revenues, it's just going to add to the deficit.

And the GOP just spent $4T!

This will hurt every consumer through inflation from their insatiable appetite for funneling our money.

But we got no tax on tips and OT. This just fricked the working class who don’t have tips or OT.

Tips are given in exchange for a service provided. Tips are textbook ordinary income.

How are tips a “gift”?
