Why would they assist someone who disrupted their oil, and is attempting them into a years-long military operation without proper pre planning?
I think you mean assisting Europe with protecting them against a nuclear Iran. It's a short term energy problem for a long term solution. Assisting the U.S. with shorten the conflict. The U.S, has an abundance of oil. The resources in Iran are for their benefit. This isn't a years long military operation. I think this will be settled before me hit 6 months.

Why would they spend 50 years buying their primary source of petroleum from a nation that chants "death to America"
They haven’t.

1) Not all European countries are the same
2) Germany is in Europe.

We are the number 1 producer of jet fuel...have we been taken out?
Of those, I can see S Korea and China struggling getting stock. But why say the top 3 have been knocked out?

I read the article.
It is NPR, naturally. Surprised they didn't mention Trump/Jesus meme in the article.
Regardless, you are correct. We make produce far more than any other country. But most of our production is domestic and the article is talking about exporting, and IIRC, we export half of what the #1 country does, S Korea annually.
-------------------------------- From the article ----------------------------------------
One, the Persian Gulf is home to many refineries that make jet fuel and export it around the world. The disruption at the strait is blocking that finished product from making it to market.
And two, crude oil from the Gulf — the unprocessed stuff — is typically shipped to refineries around the world, including to significant producers of jet fuel in Asia. The near-closure of the strait is blocking that raw material too.
The finished product and the raw material are both feeling supply shocks. "It's really a double whammy," Shaw says.
To put the scale of this disruption into perspective: The top three global exporters of jet fuel are China, South Korea and Kuwait. China has banned exports of jet fuel and South Korea has had to cut back on production, in both cases because they can't get enough crude to make it. And Kuwait can make jet fuel just fine — but can't send it anywhere.
That's the three top global suppliers of aviation fuel, all essentially knocked out of business simultaneously.

The obvious answer is that it is in their best interest.

I actually went back to the NPR article after I posted and saw the "exporter" and was sitting here hoping no one would call me out on it.
Have an upvote.

First, I wish the article were clearer.
Second, I hoped it helped others know.
Finally, your statement was correct... we outproduce by large margins, as you know, something like 1.5 million barrels / day, almost a million more that Korea.
Aviation industry, including some trains and ships, which run on jet fuel, and military go buurr.

I have a big trip to Greece in June. First time to Europe. I wonder if this will impact my trip.

if Europe really is in danger of running out of jet fuel it sounds like the problem is that they do not refine enough of the stuff domestically. Which sounds an awful lot like their energy problem where they were heavily reliant on Russian energy production.
Europe has ignored critical industrial and energy production in favor of green energy and stupid social/cultural shite for decades. It is our future as well as so many in our country worship the intellectual stupidity of Brussels.

Maybe thinking of that will comfort Europe in a few weeks when they’re back to 1903 from a transportation standpoint.

Is it really ignoring or is it just cheaper and more realistic to import finished product since they do not have the raw materials to make it. Or at least very few European countries have oil.

Because a terrorist state getting a nuke affects everyone.
They know this. Just look at how Russia is giving it to Ukraine and they can't do shite about it.

Their reliance on Russian oil was certainly a choice, so "ignore" might the wrong word, but they chose wind and solar over coal and oil - hence they found themselves in the weird position of buying more Russian energy then they were funding Ukraine's defense.
i am not sure about their history of jet fuel production - but Europe produce far more oil than S. Korea - and the latter is a net exporter of jet fuel.

I think most of Europe is beyond hope at this point. They are useless to us.
Their main value is in land proximity. They are broke and getting worse. No means to protect themselves and destroying the culture that allowed them to be world powers (broadly speaking, each country is a different level of shite show)

Was Europe running out of jet fuel before the US and Israel attacked Iran?
No, they were pretty cozy with the terrorists.
quote:
Why would they assist someone who disrupted their oil
Since they are too weak to stop us, assisting us to reduce the length of the disruption would be the smart move.
quote:
attempting them into a years-long military operation without proper pre planning
It's not a years long operation, drama queen

The allies who have prevented our goods from being sold there or have put higher tariffs on us for decades?
Why are you so willing to ignore how our "allies" have treated us?
Trump now has you people supporting foreigners over your own country. Being that emotional is pathetic.
