Too bad they let go of Jayme Sire. I'm sure she made less money than Scot Van Pelt. Fire over-priced male anchors.

ESPN would be in better shape if they remembered their 1979 roots. We got cable when ESPN was not on 24 hours a day and their sports were sprint car racing, PKA Karate and fast-pitch softball. People watch for the sports. They don't need journalists or analysts or experts to cover the SEC, Big 10 or the NHL. Just show live sporting events and stuff on tape. I"d rather watch live bowling on a Thursday afternoon if I'm home over their talking head crap. Put 1st round and 2nd round golf even if it's the LPGA or some minor tournament. Put 1st tennis on in the afternoon from some lesser tournament.

Put more live sports on and things will be fine.

My feeling is that ESPN ratings would improve if their attractive female talking heads were allowed to appear naked -- sort of the ESPN version of Naked News.

Yes, I'm sure they protected that huge pool of African American Hockey Writers.

I've long considered cutting the cord but sports has been the one reason I was never able to pull it off.

However, ESPN's shift to a liberal outlet has made it even more attractive.

So for me their politics makes cutting the cord easier.

Good.

ESPN became an enemy to the American people the moment they decided to put false political propaganda before sports.

How does a perceived political bias make you care less about live sports? I literally can't remember the last time politics was mentioned when I was watching a live game.

Cord cutting makes this a non-issue. You can drop your live tv package during the offseason (if you only really watch one or 2 sports).

It was all about cable cutting. Trump winning is the worst thing that could have happened to this board. Now everything is liberal this liberal that. I've got bad news for you baws the yourger generation is much more liberal and pretty soon everything you've think you've accomplished will be for not.
The fact that you think this was about politics shows your ignorance and that bubble you live in will soon burst.

And tucker is on a political talk show. Lebatard is a sports show. Bruce hasn't been relevant in sports for a very long time

NEWSFLASH:

The youth are always liberals......

Then they grow up and start paying taxes and.... views shift.

Your post simply shows that you either haven't grown up yet, or are yet to pay taxes.

You were right about the bubble though. Its been bursting all around your side for about 6 months now. NO ONE expected this level of immaturity as the response however......

And if your preferred sport is football you can get some games with rabbit ears and the rest by going to a bar.

I posted this link in the cord cutting thread on tech board. This is why

LINK to article about espn lost subscribers

Coach's salaries will start leveling off too without the high tv fees espn was paying.

quote:

te that they are currently losing subscribers -- then the household numbers would look like this over the next five years: 2017: 86 million subscribers 2018: 83 million subscribers 2019: 80 million subscribers 2020: 77 million subscribers 2021: 74 million subscribers At 74 million subscribers -- Outkick's projection for 2021 based on the past five years of subscriber losses -- ESPN would be bringing in just over $6.2 billion a year in yearly subscriber fees at $7 a month. At $8 a month, assuming the subscriber costs per month keeps climbing, that's $7.1 billion in subscriber revenue. Both of those numbers are less than the yearly rights fees cost.

Holy shite! That just brought back great memories of my friends and I sitting in amazement while watching all of these Japanese guys try to ride a giant log down a steep hill. Those were the days. When ESPN would show anything they could get their hands on just to fill air time. Good times.

Middle America wants to pop a beer and listen to sports talk, they don't want to be lectured about why Caitlyn Jenner is a hero, Michael Sam is the new Jackie Robinson of sports, and Colin Kaepernick is the Rosa Parks of football. ESPN made the mistake of trying to make liberal social media losers happy and as a result lost millions of viewers.

Will never understand the apparent joy people get over people losing their job through no fault of their own. Ed Werder has been at ESPN for 15 or so years and was one of the ones let go. How does anyone find joy in that?

Because brah. They have extensive coervage to a gay football player!!! Liberals!!!
