Enough of this shite!

I've been sitting back and reading this board all weekend without much comment. People arguing for and against statues, lecturing back and forth about how virtuous or how rotten a human being Robert E Lee was, the causes of the Civil War, the Alt Right, the Alt Left, and all the other useless shite that amounts to jack shite. Just shut the frick up with it already. Neither side is listening. It's just verbal diarrhea from the top of this board to the bottom.

Stop trying rehash the Civil War. It end nearly 200 years ago. Stop speaking ill of the dead and trying to see them through present day lenses. No one here has ever met Lee, had a conversation with him, or had the opportunity to observe his character firsthand, so stop pretending that you know the man, his heart or his intentions. He's long been dead. Let him Rest In Peace.

Stop investing foolish emotion in man made statues. Good bad or otherwise, they remind us of where we came from as a country. You can't selectively whitewash away the parts of history that make you uncomfortable. It's akin to tearing chapters out of a novel you don't like. When you do, the story is forever lost.

Stop letting these worthless politicians reopen wounds of the past to divide us, when none of us bear any responsibility for events of a hundred of two hundred years ago. Im not Alt right, Alt left or any other label you put on me. I'm an American and if that offends you, too bad.
