Civilian jobs are handled by civilians. Gov can stay the hell out. Conservative much?

I wonder what he thinks about people hiding in a closet constantly scrolling social media, and posting on a message board 200 times a day while their "patients" die?
My wife is an NP at a hosptial and says the Gen-Z nurses do exactly this. If they can claim something is even slightly out of their job scope, they won't do it and will wait for someone else to. And they just sit at the nurses' station on their phones all day unless an emergency happens. Their patients go unbathed and get little to no assistance using the bathroom. Any pushback is met with them crying to the nurse manager, who then tells the providers to be nicer to them because they're understaffed and can't find anyone to replace them.

He’s wrong here. Not everyone can afford childcare for the 7 or w/e kids he has.
However, the companies were all thousands of miles away, with the exception of my last employer, which has an office 15 minutes from my home, and I had a cubicle to use, but because it was not the same division, I did not have to go but once every 90 days just to log in on the company's badge server to keep the badge active. In fact, since Covid, I only went there once.
I certainly don't feel immoral about it and besides, in my job I had to travel all across the country and internationally, too. Also, I don't consider it immoral at all if someone is WFH and gets their job done efficiently, and is available via Teams or WebEx or some other form of visual communication to gather together as a team or to attend a one on one meeting.
Elon can EABOD on this one.

If you have a WFH job, there is a good chance AI is going to replace you at some point. WFH for the private sector is fine, I think. WFH for the government should only rarely be allowed. The few things I've seen is government workers productivity decreases if they WFH.

Like John, hiding out in a broom closet, doom scrolling X, while he works as an "ICU nurse"?

For hourly employees, sure, but this shouldn't be called "immoral" for salaried people who get their work done.

am glad Trump's right hand man recognizes the morally corrupt individuals going to the grocery store and gym while on the clock. I can't wait for Elon Musk to take a hammer to WFH in the private and federal workforce. Elon will make working in the office great again

This is a case where one size does not fit all.
If wfh is morally wrong, then so too are executive compensation packages. That doesnt mean I think its to gov’s place to say anything about it.

The fed was already telling people to go back to the office a few days a week, last year.

Outside sales, for example.

These people will be put on the assembly line once manufacturing is brought back sufficiently

It doesnt take but one or two salaried folks to ruin it for everyone.
Ive seen this happen in real time.

I think OP is actually someone who is making his way into being a legendary troller of the PoliBoard.
El Gaucho is great commenting on posts. This dude makes his own posts, and so many on the PoliBoard are taking him seriously as some carrier of the America First banner. Then he drops things like this from time to time.
I'm entertained. Keep it going, OP.

Would you be okay with being monitored all day to make sure you are actually working while at home?

This has been discussed in management classes for years. Once someone has a kid, everyone else on the team is expected to pick-up the slack.
Kid is sick, mom must come-in late or leave early. Single employee doesn't get that benefit.
With this approach, you establish that mom doesn't even have to come to the office. And it isn't as if the kids can take care of themselves while mom devotes her full attention to her job. If that were the case, she wouldn't need childcare at all.
There is a moral question on the table. Is less expected from a working parent than an employee with no children? We all know the answer to that.

If someone is serious about getting me back into the office they can at least pay for commuting costs. I don't want to occupy your empty office buildings just so you can feel better about a made up corporate culture.
