He said he got all of his work done.

He did say he got all of the work that was expected of him from home done.

And I said the question is whether he'd be more efficient and therefore set a greater benchmark for the amount of work he was expected to do if he were to work in the office where he wasn't screwing around half the day.

I thought you were supposed to be some kind of genius. I had to explain that to you?

I get that your contention is that there is no advantage for them doing it from the office, but so what? If you can do the work from home, you can do it from the office.

So why not just do it from the office?

(We all know why.)

Save on resources at the office.

You know how much the government would save if you cut the amount of employees working from the office + remove GSA building costs?

You'd save more that way than outright firing people

Government (i.e. our taxes) pay out of the arse for people to work from the office.

Tell me you are a micromanager or have only ever dealt with micromanagers

If you have good employees productivity will be the same in and out of the office.

Not according to the OP. According to it they pay out of the arse for government workers to screw off outside the office.

Whatever they pay for overhead wouldn't come close to the amount of money they will save once they determine that they can do the same amount of work with one third of quality people inside an office that they do right now outside the office.

If you don't know that labor is by far and away the most expensive part of running an organization you probably don't have any business weighing in on it.

Even if that were true, we're talking about the government.

WE DON'T HAVE QUALITY EMPLOYEES. We have mass DEI hires.

Why do y'all pretend otherwise?

If you are held accountable at all, you're being "micromanaged."

Ok is your contention is we can get rid of the non-quality government employees and therefore those that remain can telework?

If so I 100% agree with you

Your question has a major assumption issue (that people in offices don't have inefficiencies to deal with)

And it's irrelevant, basically. Why are we assigning the efficient workers more work in your hypothetical? That's much more inequitable than WFH.

This sounds like hourly work thinking.

Good supervisor will ensure things are in order. If shite starts not showing up on time you know you have an employee problem
