If Elon Musk were there to ensure that fraudulent spending was not occurring with federal money, then he would have forensic accountants there, not a group of guys that likely have no knowledge of how federal spending is appropriated and financed, signed into law, and administered by federal agencies.
He also wouldn't have open conflicts of interest while doing these things, either.

The facts one way or the other don’t matter. Polling is on Trump and Musk’s side on these DOGE actions for the time being, and they can continue doing what they want until that changes. Hardly anyone in the public has any understanding of what is or isn’t correct or legal, the exception being political junkies, and no one watches the news anymore to get propagandized.
I don’t think any of this is illegal anyway, but I couldn’t care less about these arguments. He can and will do anything he can get away with, and he should.

I think at least 95% of people still have no concept of this. And it probably should stay that way after Musk gets them to understand this one time until this stuff gets jammed through.

Depends. If they’re both moving that way then it would be authoritarian either way, so go with the authoritarian you would rather rule you.

My policy stance on actual spending cuts hasn't changed. No actual cuts have even occurred to analyze. Some payments were frozen, but the allocations were made, and we're talking small potatoes.
This is also ignoring all the legal challenges that are occurring.
