Crazy the left thinks today's whites are responsible for slavery but doesnt think someone that takes a loan out themselves are responsible for paying it back. That party is a fricking clown show

You'd be amazed at how many people there are with household incomes of greater than 100K that have NO frickING IDEA the left considers THEM rich too!

I'm well aware. Don't make enough for the R's to care, and too much for D's.

I also like how it’s 100k household earnings rather than individual earnings.

Part of me thinks she is proposing this with intent for it to fail.

That's funny on a couple of fronts.

1. Does she think that the "household" in question is the one that incurred the loan in the first place?

2. So, if some engineer with high student loans currently makes 95K per year and is engaged, he should put that shite off?

3. Why should the salary of the person someone with student loans marries play into this at all? That person doesn't owe the loans and unlike many other types of credit, getting married doesn't suddenly make you mutually responsible for student loans.

This isn't really true

A lot of people think Rs are the party of "the rich" but that's silly. The REAL rich have voted for Democrats for at least 50 years.

The Rs are the party of the well off. That's why Rs talk about income taxes so much because in terms of household impact, it's the group of folks who are well off, or maybe the "working rich" who get hammered the most.

THAT is the R constituency.

That debt doesn't just go away, it ends up just being moved on the ledger to another form of debt. In other words, she wants to increase federal debt by over half a trillion at the stroke of a pen.

I thought she was supposed to be financially astute?

So if you know you will start out making less than $100K that’s $50K of free money you can use to spend however you’d like during college. Hell, just invest it.

Why is warren so lacking in common sense? Sure, student loans are a major burden on people but no one forced them to accept the loans. What we need, instead, is a better and more affordable community college system and programs to relieve schooling debt based upon post graduation community service.
If it is not the ignorant far left it is the ignorant far right.....we need better people in office.

Is this a one-time thing, or is it ongoing?

They really need to fix the problem leading to the debt (universities not preparing kids for a well paying job, continued rising costs of universities, the schools not having any skin in the game for the debt they are helping to rack up, etc.)

Is the government subsidizing the investments of the $640 billion who hold that debt?

To me...she is saying college (her old employer) is worthless ..or at least the first 50k is.

As someone pointed out earlier...her financial education seems to reside on a 7th grade level. In typical dem form just cure cancer with a bandaid and promote the heck out the ease of the cure

So what if I make $101k in San Francisco with $50k in student debt? Do I ask my boss for a $1,001 decrease in annual pay?

That would be the smart play. Similar to some California companies telling their workers that they could voluntarily take pay cuts in order to increase their obamacare subsidies.

So those of us who are successful, make more than 100k AND actually pay our debts get royally fricked.

Congrats Dems

According to the article there would be relief up to 250k, but reduced above 100k.

“Warren’s plan, first announced in April, calls for canceling up to $50,000 of debt for all borrowers earning less than $100,000, with proportionally less debt relief for those earning up to $250,000”

As a med student, with loans and no current income this would be pretty sweet. It’s nice that the government would be doing something to correct the crazy tuition increases that they caused. This would essentially cancel a year and some change’s worth tuition debts. With interest and all considered, this would be pretty neat.
