WASHINGTON — Eight cities are in consideration to host the 2020 Democratic National Convention as the party prepares for a presidential contest that is expected to include an unusually large number of candidates.

The Democratic National Committee sent requests for proposals to eight cities last month that expressed interest in hosting the event.

The cities are: Atlanta; Denver; Houston; New York; San Francisco; Milwaukee; Miami Beach; and Birmingham.

The DNC previously sent letters to a longer list of cities to gauge their interest. Birmingham and New York City were considered in 2016, but passed over.

Meanwhile, the Republican National Committee, is eyeing several cities for its own 2020 convention, including Las Vegas and Charlotte, North Carolina, according to the Charlotte Observer.

Charlotte would be a solid choice for RNC.

Atlanta = leans R
Denver = leans D
Houston = heavy R
New York = safe D
San Fran = safe D
Milwaukee = swing state
Miami = swing state
Birmingham = safe R

New Orleans has missed out once again for the Democratic Convention with Mitch Running. Sad really sad that Mitch can't even carry his own city into contention.

Of course Birmingham is on the list because the moronic city leaders gave the DNC millions of dollars in 2016 when they had no chance to get the convention.

No one gives a shite about Jefferson County--they host these for the state to swing a certain way.

I’d be FLOORED if it’s not Milwaukee out of that list.

But I’m shocked they aren’t trying Pittsburgh or Columbus. They can’t give trump the rust belt again.

I will pray every day till the announcement that it’s San Francisco

I would weep and gnash my teeth at the traffic clusterfrick (the ongoing malfunction junction work is already a fricking pain, and damned idiots don't know how to effect zipper merging), but I would looooooove to do a little guerilla marketing around town.

I was just saying that Birmingham itself, and Jefferson County en toto becomes a Democratic county. Alabama will never go Democrat in a Presidential election for as long as I am alive. shite, I don't know that I've seen one Democratic ad for Gov, Lt Gov, AG, etc.,

If they hold it in Vegas or Miami, they are gonna have to keep a lot of those politicians on a short leash. It’s gonna be hard to keep a lid on all the debauchery.

Republicans should strongly consider something in Pennsylvania, Michigan, or Virginia. North Carolina is a solid choice, but not as good as those three.

He barely won MI and PA, and was much more competitive in VA than many expected.
