Give the tariffs a month or so. It’s a bargaining tool.

At the rate morons are buying cars I would keep pushing up the price if I were the manufacturer.

People that shouldn’t be are buying 70k suvs.

When they see where we are heading they will revise how they think about finance in the future. It’ll be a good teacher.

Oh, if stocks keep declining the rich will get richer.

The tariffs are so bad, every other country who hasn’t had these same tariffs on American goods we are reciprocating are now enacting tariffs themselves on our goods to reciprocate.

Why is every other country on earth following Drumpfs horrible muh tariffs? Do they want to bring their economies down like Drumpf? Why?

If we werent such pussies we would crumble all these countries. We don’t have the national pride to accept the suffering in order to defeat enemies.

We are a me me me country.

Our needs are wants

Their wants are needs

In the end one thing matters and we have it in abundance.

lol …. here’s a free clue …

US trade accounts for 20% of Canada’s GDP
US trade accounts for 32% of Mexico’s GDP

Meanwhile, Canada and Mexico’s contribution to US GDP is about 2.5 %.

Are you sure?
A couple of facts you appear to have not considered ...
e.g., Roughly 1/4th of US cars are imported. Auto loans are predicted to drop below 6% by year's end, as 0opposed to the 7.6% peak rate in 2024.

The left getting upset that young chickens are coming into their laying time and eggs will drop because the Biden admin had wiped out nearly 40% of the entire laying flock in the US.

Not necessarily, it all boils down to supply v demand.

2024 used car stats from Cox

Feb 13, 2025 report on new cars from Cox:

quote:

January New-Vehicle Sales Drop, Days’ Supply Surges 26% Due to Weather Disruptions and New Year Lull

December brought an optimistic end to the year, with consumer sentiment riding high and high-priced vehicles selling like hotcakes. As is common in the new year, consumers slow down; new-vehicle sales in January were down by 25% month over month. Weather disruptions and the general desire to focus on the year ahead leave more buyers on the sidelines, but sales are expected to pick up as tax refund season begins.

According to an analysis of vAuto Live Market View data, the total U.S. supply of available unsold new vehicles at the start of February stood at 2.92 million units, registering only 1.2% higher than the start of January. Inventory was 14.2% higher than a year ago at the start of February. Sales are tracking at 7.1% higher than a year ago as well, giving the dealers confidence in the market and consumers freedom of choice of vehicle. That said, days’ supply increased by 26% since the start of January, hitting 96 days in the latest measure as the sales pace slowed notably compared to the hot run through December.

New vehicles are still selling well while used vehicles are piling up. New vehicle prices rose last year by ~2.5% (on average) while used vehicle prices dropped ~3% (interesting footnote: the $15k and lower range of used vehicles have about half the days' supply as the $15k+ vehicles). If we get into a recession (which has been in the cards ever since the yield curve uninverted), we can expect things to change a bit. New car sales should slow (meaning increased supply and eventually lower prices) while used car sales should increase (raising their prices through higher demand leading to lower supplies). If the recession is really bad, expect sales of both to slump and supplies to grow as consumers decide now is not the time to change vehicles.

Sarcasm gets lost.

But none of the anti tariff people will answer this.

If tariffs are so bad, why are other countries putting tariffs on us to combat tariffs?

I’ve got a 2018 Nissan Frontier I need to sell.

Would it be worth it to hold off for a bit and wait for prices to rise?
