Bush also oversaw what I consider to be one of, if not the largest, political boondoggles of my life time...the mandated ethanol subsidy. The cost effect of this on the economy relative to every good and service that is provided, not to mention in engine harm and the like, is likely immeasurable.

And on top of that, he offered a tax break to businesses that bought big gas-guzzling SUV's.

You can't cut taxes and fight a war and be fiscally responsible. That's on Bush. The beginning of the bailout bullshite is also on Bush.
But Obama did the same exact shite. Plus all the regulatory uncertainty surrounding Obamacare has put an extreme damper on hiring and growth.

Biz Con.
We had more growth under Bush because he was perceived as a business friendly President who believed in less govt intrusion/regulation of the private sector.
Obama is the opposite. He is perceived as antagonistic to free market capitalism and is hyper intrusive into the private sector. Therefore, businesses sit on capital instead of expanding and you have a suppression of growth and terrible unemployment numbers.

what I said, only more concise. Cutting taxes is great. Cutting taxes, financing increased welfare and government spending including a war with no discernible benefit to anyone. And now Obama and the radical left points to, you guessed it, cutting taxes. So they hike taxes and increase the already insane spending that put us there in the first place while fricking over the healthcare market.

quote:If you were lower income you got one hell of a tax cut. Many will squander that opportunity, but some will use the marginal income increases for good use at bettering themselves.
What did George W. Bush do to improve the economy and ability to earn a living or create one's path?
quote:He's provided so little leadership, it's hard to come up with anything.

quote:I think this is overblown. The GWOT didn't cost much more than the "stimulus" plan.

quote:Indeed. Bush also started the "stimulus" idea when everyone got $400 checks. Huge mistake. And very disappointing.
The beginning of the bailout bullshite is also on Bush.

quote:and the welfare handouts he helped increase exponentially are never mentioned. Bush's administration oversaw ridiculous spending. Only to be topped by the most corrupt president in the history of the United States
I think this is overblown.

quote:Well that is one hell of an achievement considering the ~3,500,000 who are no longer even participating in the workforce
Well, since you are in disbelief. Here is evidence.

This is a biggy. It was a wet towel on a fire trying to grow jobs.
