The link is for TheHayRide's (news commentary) slant on the findings of the audit if anyone was interested in another interpretation. They aren't exactly wrong about Pat Smith.
The Advocate has posted part of the audit report that lists the findings at each high school. LINK

She accused the state Department of Education of being a bunch of shills for St. George – when the school system she shills for was inflating grades and submitting fraudulent graduation rate information to the state.

This was Pat Smith’s quote from back in January when the investigation was announced…
“This is truly a coup. Someone has put out false information on the system, and I believe it comes from the pullout of St. George.”

Did Pat Smith actually say this? Link please.

No, so you are just making up shite.
Read the audit. When they refer to 'central', they mean inner as in "central office". It has nothing to do with the city of Central.

Okay...let me help you out. If it's not in quotes, don't interpret it as a quote.
"this is a quote"
this is not a quote
In case you were wondering, Pat Smith's actual words were:
quote:
“This is truly a coup. Someone has put out false information on the system, and I believe it comes from the pullout of St. George.”
quote:

I'm not clear what you are misunderstanding with this, so I can't help you. Bodi White is a legislator from Central (the city) and sponsored the school district bill. He has has been accused by posters on this board of being behind the St. George incorporation effort as part of his own evil plot to take over the world. ...thus the reference to Bodi White made by me, which was not in quotes.

Those who have followed the St. George issue on this board are familiar with at least one regular poster (not necessarily dewster) who seems to believe that the SG movement is due primarily to a conspiratorial plot led by Bodi White and his henchmen for their own personal gain. That is most likely where the Bodi White reference came from in this thread.

Your hysteria, doom and gloom, everything is shite in Baton Rouge agenda is obvious.
I'm wondering why you didn't quote the following from your link:
I'm wondering why you didn't quote the following from your link:
quote:
Still, only 27, or about 7 percent, involved a mismatch between the grades or credits given by the teacher and those later reported to the state.
McKinley High School had the most problems. The school accounted for 11 of the 27 students whose grades or credits did not match those in a state transcript database.
Glen Oaks High also had many problems. It did its own review of the Class of 2013 and found six recent graduates who lacked the necessary credits to graduate... A school counselor new to Glen Oaks first flagged the problem on Sept. 27. ... the school system reported the problem to the state in the fall soon after it came to light and had reassigned employees who were at fault.
.... 13 of 15 schools had no or only “minor inconsistencies.”

Downplay and distort all you want and feel free to continue attacking me just because I disagree with your political stance on this. I'm glad you are proud to be from Baton Rouge and that you are absolutely thrilled with the quality of service provided by East Baton Rouge Parish schools. Unfortunately that doesn't make it an acceptable school district.
Of the 362 student records the auditors sampled, a full quarter of them had what the report described as major errors. Only 3 high schools had no issues and a system wide lack of internal controls may have help produce falsification of student records at the school level - including at least one instance involving the principal at one high school.

The post above yours is from the report.
Anyone who actually cared about education would be demanding better controls and some resignations over this instead of downplaying or dismissing it.

No argument there.
I was referring your obvious use of sarcasm with the "absolutely thrilled" comment. That usually brings out the "you can't defend your position without lying" mantra.

I don't know what we would do without you guiding us in the right direction.
Maybe someday we can advance to the level of the Shelby County, Tennessee school system where you live and we, too, can be proud to have school administrators go to prison for 7 years for selling their abilities to cheat to the highest bidder.

..... or he'll say that because I live in Tennessee, I shouldn't have an opinion on the area where I spent the first 22 years of my life.
Edit. Looks like I was right.

I'm sure the SG supporters want to thank you for doing the same for them.

I was obviously being sarcastic about Bodi White because the two main SG opponents here slam him to weaken the SG position. It's usually a tactic used by leftists to win an argument when the facts don't carry the day.
It is ironic that corruption has been exposed in the old system now, and the two main SG opponents are doing all they can to mitigate the news. They've slammed Memphis, parsed words, and did everything but pit forward an argument as to why decent folk in the SG area should not be alarmed by the recent disclosure.
Claims that the EBR is improving are now under question. Can you believe the numbers now? I can't.

I'm not sure that I ever believed them in the first place. But that's not just for the EBR school system. That's for any government entity using statistics to seek and spend money.
And even if they were/are correct, IMO the rate of progress is borderline insignificant compared to the climb it will take to become a complete effective system. Any revelations that make the climb higher or the rate of improvement lower should be of serious concern to all involved.

I am naïve, I believed that the numbers were real and the extra tax dollars I voted to spend on schools was finally making a difference.
Now we find someone was cooking the books, and kids were graduating that should not have been; thus affecting the numbers.
To what degree we don't know, but if they'll cook the books and issue diplomas to unworthy recipients, why wouldn't they fudge test scores?
