So when is the petition cranking up again, or is the st. George movement dead? I'm moving from Gonzales to Burbank in October.

Because of all the annexations, they are going to have to retool it, but I suspect they will start up with a petition in the Fall and considering all if the bullshite, they should have more than enough signatures in a very short time and Mary Olive can frick herself.

Nah, City Hall will find a way to disqualify just enough votes to defeat the petition.

They had enough signatures last time, but convinced enough to retract theirs and so they fell just short.

And yes I believe you are correct, they will stop SG again.

Look at what's going on now, these people don't rest. They get what they want.

I've spoken with organizers of the recall movement and those who have used their real names have lost their jobs, most have received death threats. It's absolutely out of hand. This is 1930's Germany era stuff going on just to crush any and all resistance. I don't understand why such tactics are even necessary (it's just a local government election) unless these people are much much much more corrupt than we realize. It's pretty scary that such lengths are being gone to just to prevent a long shot election from happening.

And all these anti-SG folks that rabidly seek to destroy those that want to incorporate will turn around and yell to the rafters that they want to create inclusive environments where everyone is welcome.

There's multiple towns, parishes and neighboring states doing things that affects us all daily, still doesn't mean we should get a say in their matters.
towns being the key word here

not cities with 100k people

this affects the entire parish. central and zachary did not.

What does that have to do with anything?

I didn't vote on the CATS tax and I live in EBR Parish. I don't vote for City Judges, Constable, or on DDD district or other carved out districts although votes in these areas can and do affect me.

Sorry Charlie, they have to draw the line somewhere or there would be chaos.

If enough people petition for incorporation only the people in the area should vote. It may or may not pass, but its their choice and not anybody else's.

It is scary, and when you see and hear Mary Olive go on her tirades as if she had some kind of moral authority granted to herself to lecture all of us about right and wrong; it makes me sick.

I just wished these people worked as hard to fix I-10 downtown, the crime problems, and the school problems as they do keeping power.

You don't get a vote in matters within the Cities of Zachary or Central, yet live within the same parish.

Governments exist on different levels, who knew?

It's not the only key word there bub. Other Parishes and States also do shite that affects us as well and we don't get a say in that as well.

Oh so you're ok with authoritarianism and against self determination when it suits you and your bottom line?

You fat hypocrite.

All this land should have been annexed into Baton Rouge a long time ago.

If the idiocy that is the St George movement causes businesses and the more forward thinking home owners to finally make most of this area a full fledged part of the city, then some good will have come from it after all! Can't blame them for not wanting to get hijacked into Lionel Rainey's greedy plans to line his own pockets. I know I sure don't.

Why doesn't BR just annex all the commercial property in the unincorporated area? That way they can increase their tax base without actually having to provide any service to individuals?

Very "forward thinking."

In case you haven't noticed...it's not a lot of homeowners asking for this.

Thus was (and is) a concerted cash grab by the City of BR, and nothing more.

Uh huh, and what happens when too much of these productive taxpayers leave EBR and those business don't have enough of a customer base to serve?

Like I said earlier, that's not something you can annex your way out of.

The city has nothing to do with I-10.

And before you try it: neither does the parish.

Also, the gas tax would have helped out tremendously on that. But you didn't want that.
