I don't have a problem with it. I look at the price of everything I buy.

I'm on a very strict budget (doesn't matter how much you make but you do control how much goes out).

They may find however that they could lose money by losing sales.

In theory, the price can change from the time you pull it from the shelf until you check out.

That is not good.

Costco also uses deception. Go buy something like their pre-cooked/smoked brisket and the price you see is, let's assume, $15.99 but the super fine print says per pound and it's a 2-pound package. Yes, they gave you the per pound price, but it seems like that is the price for the whole package when it's not. Just saying.

It’s a cost - plus model. It’s the store’s cost of the item listed and you pay 10% on top of that. They have these stores everywhere and have been around for 10+ years.

With the 10% added these stores still tend to be cheaper than major grocers like Kroger and Albertsons.

And I’m not sure why he thinks it’s dynamic pricing. It’s a digital tag system and the pictures cycle through different items (you can see the different photos of the products when he focuses on the price)

And dynamic price wouldn’t work the way he is trying to make it seem. Because if you put the item in your cart and it’s $1.50 and you get to the register and they changed the price to $2.00 during that time, there is going to be an issue. Consumer rights are basically for this situation. If the price has been changed the store will need to honor the price (unless it’s an obvious screw up that “normal” people should have known the price was incorrect.

This actually makes me want to shop at one of these stores. I want to fill my buggy with a bunch of crap then balk after they ring it all up and raise the price at the register. Just say no and walk away.

No they don’t. Every single one of those products priced by weight in Costco has the actual price listed on the item. The signage says $15.99/lb or whatever, but if you pick up the item and literally look at the tag it will have the actual weight and price.

You don’t think some sign that says $15.99/lb for prime beef means that you get all three of the steaks in a pack for $15.99. It’s the same way with other items.

This is a cost plus store. Price is supposed to be their cost with a 10% margin added at the register.

While I generally agree, I wouldn't accept a price change between the time that I put it in my cart and the time that I checked out. If I got to the register and found that an item had increased by 15% since I selected it, I'd walk away from the whole cart and start shopping elsewhere on principle.

no, frick this greedy BS
I want to go into a store & get a set price
I work 50+ hours a week & don't want to deal with some tedious mental load just to avoid being scammed

I just want to buy my groceries easily & in peace.

Life is hard enough without some company trying to greedily weasel you out of every penny. This is pure corporate greed 100% and should be badmouthed and trashed to the hills & back. frick this & frick any company that pushes it.

Edit: how many of you want to haggle over every price like we're in Bagladesh?

Video is deceiving , it initially shows mustard, then the camera looks away, then when the camera goes back, the price is higher, but that’s actually barbecue sauce now

I do not see how you can miss all the huge signs that clearly say - Cost Plus 10 percent.

All they leave out is local tax that is also added. This has been around for many years. Only a dumbass doesn't know what's up.

Read the community note:

Misleading: no “dynamic pricing” is shown in this video. This is a cost plus grocery store (such as Cash Saver) meaning that the price displayed is the cost to the grocery store and 10% is added at checkout on all items, which is the grocery store’s profit margin.
