Thanks for posting. I am inclined to believe the Russians were attacking our networks on many levels. What is unsettling is the failure on the part of the Obama administration to defeat these efforts. Our hyper-partisanship (Right and Left) is preventing us from truly determining what happened and putting measures in place to protect us.

I still believe this was (partly) in retaliation for then Secretary Clinton meddling (allegedly) in the Russian elections of 2011. A degree of comeuppance.

Something isn’t adding up here.

1. The hacking this article refers to is NOT the “phishing scam” that Hillary campaign and DNC staffers (including Podesta) fell for.

2. DCLeaks and Guccifer2.0 posted the first set of docs and emails that came directly from the DNC server.

3. WikiLeaks downloaded those docs and emails from DCLeaks and posted them on WikiLeaks.

4. Over a month later, WikiLeaks posted the emails acquired from the phishing scam.

n the Summer of 2015, Dutch intelligence services were the first to alert their American counterparts about the cyberintrusion of the Democratic National Committee by Cozy Bear,

*Two* Russian APTs hacked the DNC, APT29 (Cozy Bear) and APT28 (Fancy Bear). Cozy Bear hacked the DNC much earlier (summer of 2015). This APT is the one described in the Dutch article. It's also the same APT that the FBI knew about and warned the DNC about in the fall of 2015. Cozy Bear has been associated with the FSB and likely engaged in traditional espionage. They do not appear to be implicated in the indictment.

It was Fancy Bear that kicked off their operations in March-April 2016 - hacking and active measures including the Guccifer 2.0 persona, DCLeaks, coordination with Wikileaks and others, etc. Fancy Bear is the APT associated with the GRU and is obviously the operation outlined in the indictment. I think it's what they did with the hacked materials that earned them this indictment.

most reasonable people have ALWAYS acknowledged that the Russians did indeed attempt to interfere/influence our election, or at least that it was a distinct possibility

BUT, that is ALWAYS followed up with the fact that they have been doing this for the better part of half a century, AND that America has also engaged in this type of activity (see Israel & our "nation building" efforts) - well, always followed up with this disclaimer by reasonable people...

a couple of things strike me as "funny"

one - I have seen reports that our efforts to discover Russian involvement did not need to be that intense, as the Russians were "sloppy" - almost like they "wanted to be caught"

IF this is true, then it is hard to ignore the possibility that they did this in an effort to sow discord here in the States (and it worked/is working)

two - NONE of this justifies a SC to investigate Trump or his campaign, and the whole investigation into him is indeed a farce and a witch hunt - or rather, part of the "insurance policy" that we know the FBI had planned (Comey has all but admitted that he leaked sensitive info to ensure a SC)

heads need to roll and people need to be imprisoned or the FBI and entire IC will never be trusted again, at least not by reasonable people...

I mean is there any doubt this didn't happen. Only people that don't believe this are the fervent supporters of a an American president. They would rather support and believe the communists because of the irrational hatred they harbor for their fellow countrymen.

What did the Obama administration do to stop those attacks and protect our election process?

No one is shocked that Russian spies were doing spy things.

This was supposed to be about Trump working with them, and there is no evidence because it did not happen.

Obama should have done more to stop this. But it doesn't take take too long to discover that they approached Mitch McConnell about issuing a joint statement concerning this. McConnell refused. The Obama administration didn't publicly release information with only one side commenting on it because it would look too partisan. I'm sure as well read as you are you already know that though.

You really struggle with taking responsibility and placing events in context. The alleged hacking (which I believe occurred) apparently began in 2015. When did the joint statement issue arise? President Obama flat out dropped the ball. It happens. He had the most difficult job in the world.

Come on Toddy. Set aside your hyper-partisan BS.

You retards on the left don't even realize that this article only makes our case stronger.

Why didn't the FBI look at the DNC's server?

Anyone?

The Belgians disagree. They're not even sure the Dutch are really people.

Certainly not in your mind Toddy. Then again, you believe Trump paid whores to pee on a Moscow bed that the Obamas supposedly slept in. So there's that.
