quote:Damn, my brain was on cruise control. The site I looked at had "adjacent states" on the page, with Texas at the top. I just saw that number and used it without analyzing whether it seemed "right."
(assuming Louisiana pop. of 26mm).quote:
Only if every Louisianian who ever moved to Texas came back all of a sudden. It's about 1/5 of that. You got the big picture correct if not the details.
5m/4.6mm = one-tenth of one percent.

This will go over well.
Maybe we can vote them out of office.

It’s Louisiana. One horrible Katrina 2 and you will have mass casualties.

What’s with #33 under the “Instructions to Bidders” section?
It’s called “Prohibition of Discriminatory Boycotts of Israel.”
There isn’t a section specifically for any other country.
#27 discusses bidders’ compliance with civil rights laws and #28 discusses compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Those cover discrimination against individuals.
I get why those are included.
But no other country mentioned.
Seems like the application would include language stipulating this non-discrimination policy for all allies of the US, no?

Lousiana Office of State Procurement
Well Ballard Logistics is going to be pissed because they've had the contract for up to 999,999,999.00 the past year and y'all didn't all die off so they could make their money before their contract expires May 29.
Goings Consulting Services just got their contract in February but theirs is through 2025 so you've got time.

quote:I don't have an explanation for it, but I can tell you that it exists in the DOTD contracts too and isn't unique to this invitation to bid.

Wiki link to Anti-BDS laws
Over 30 states have these "Anti-BDS Laws" on the books. BDS is the "boycott, divest, sanction" movement against Israel. The laws have been challenged multiple times and usually found to be unconstitutional, but a challenge hasn't made it to the Supreme Court yet.
