"President Donald Trump on Thursday invoked the Defense Production Act against 3M to acquire more medical masks to fight the coronavirus.

The president responded to the news reported by Fox News host Tucker Carlson that 3M was sending masks to foreign countries instead of shipping them to the United States.

“We hit 3M hard today after seeing what they were doing with their Masks,” Trump wrote. “Big surprise to many in government as to what they were doing – will have a big price to pay!”

We hit 3M hard today after seeing what they were doing with their Masks. “P Act” all the way. Big surprise to many in government as to what they were doing - will have a big price to pay!

Director of the Florida Division of Emergency Management Jared Moskowitz appeared on Carlson’s show to shame the company for not saving the masks for American workers.

Billionaire Mark Cuban also exposed 3M distributors for making as much money as possible with the masks and even spoke to the White House about the “price gouging” he said was taking place.

The president authorized Secretary of Homeland Security Chad Wolf for FEMA “to acquire, from any appropriate subsidiary or affiliate of 3M Company, the number of N-95 respirators that the Administrator determines to be appropriate.”"

Good to hear. 3M investors should demand that heads roll.

I’m going to guess they will. It’s going to be interesting seeing how certain companies are treated based off disaster response.

I’m interested to see worker movement from some of the massive hospitals networks. Which ones reacted and actually helped workers vs which were more worried about productivity metrics.

I've stopped watching those because I've realized that I am allergic to the press.

why is 3m only beholden to usa people?

And what right does the govt have to tell a private business who they can and can't do business with.

This is some Stalin arse shot.

Clearly the constitution means nothing at this point. Liberals rejoice

3M's distribution channel is really to blame. They should respond to this immediately with a public condemnation, announcement of contract terminations and 100% cooperation and coordination with the WH task force.

I think of all the workers thinking they are working their asses of to produce goods that save American lives only to find out their greedy arse management/owners are selling to other countries to make more money while American healthcare workers are in dire need of these supplies.

Screw 3M!

The government has the authority to restrict certain product sales in the interests of national security or national emergency. It's not a bad law, unless you're profiteering, which, in my book, makes you a traitor.

Major companies like 3M are ate up with diversity and inclusion.

Rather than provide for the USA, they ship these masks to foreign companies to maintain their diversity and inclusion status.
