Won't be long they'll be telling us it wasn't "real conservatism".

I’m ambivalent on Trump v Desantis. I would vote in the GE for whichever wins the primary.

Same, obviously.

That would change if Bush/Ryan/Rove fundraised and campaigned for Desantis in primary. I would unequivocally support Trump, and would abstain in general.

If you mean got up on stage and shook hands with DeSantis and openly campaigned for him, 100%. frick all that.

If you mean supported behind the scenes? No, not really.

I think it stands to reason that people in the GOPe that hate Trump with a passion, but that also do not openly support the Dems would land with DeSantis as their alternative. Would it mean he's in their pocket? Dunno.

What I've seen form him thus far is a guy that we all loved up until recently because everything he did was what we hoped a guy on The Right would do in his position. I can't think of a thing he's done in his official capacity I've disagreed with.

All that said, I'm 52 and have yet to vote in a meaningful primary being in Louisiana and voting so late. Who I prefer is irrelevant mostly. It'll be one of those two and I'll crawl through broken glass to vote for either come November 2024. But I can't get worked up over "my" guy anymore...not ONE Republican candidate that ran in the general was the guy I was pulling for in primary season, so other than arguing on here for sport it doesn't matter to me at all.

What exactly does the support of Bush/Ryan/Rove mean to you?

What if he's also supported by people like Ann Coulter, Thomas Massie, Chip Roy?

Ron DeSantis will have broad support from all sorts of Republicans when he finally announces his candidacy. If someone is scared of a few unsavory endorsements then maybe they should simply decide for themselves who the best candidate is and not worry about the noise surrounding politicians.

The unwillingness of republicans like Paul Ryan to see that was what made the “Electable” candidates not very electable, in my view. Even if they were more polite and articulate.

So wait...

Your issue with the "Uniparty" isn't that their policies were correct (counter to Trump) but that those policies made them unelectable?

Plus their foreign policy ideas are cancerous. T

What was Paul Ryan's foreign policy? Can you link it?

Romney's best moment during the debate, in hindsight, was to own Obama about Russia. What were your issues with Romney's foreign policy propositions, specifically? I'm sure we can google his 2012 policy stances.

Trump was the best foreign policy president of my lifetime.

Trump had the fortune of avoiding any major events. He did intervene in Syria after emotionally responding to chemical weapons being used. He didn't really have any other opportunities to make a mistake.

What in the hell are you babbling on about? Where do my posts support any government intervention or redistribution?
You can re-post anything i have said in the past if you like.

You can look elsewhere for your socialist boogeyman. I'm not the drone you are looking for.

If the GOPe wants to support these tenants more than supporting the R voting base, you get disenchantment from the base.

Are you a fan of:

Social Security
Medicare
Tariffs
Unions
More regulation of international trade

Those are all part of the Trump economic plan and typically used to distinguish himself from the GOPe. It makes the GOPe less popular, b/c they're not promoting free stuff.

If you're not supporting those, then how can you support Trump? What did you even mean by "globalism"?

No. My issue with the Uniparty is that they DGAF about the people they claim to represent, but they care about preserving their piece of the Uniparty pie.

Paul Ryan DGAF that his suggestion would have harmed his constituents. He just cared that it was popular among his donors and “conservative.”

How? Based on what?

In the short term and saved them in the long term.

Do you have any actual proof of this?
