1980?

It seems as if this is definitely a modern cultural phenomenon. What is different between "these days" and "those days"?

Could it be the moral decay fostered by liberal democrats and corrupt Republicans? Anything goes, right?

It’s a very long list. Moral decay. More people. More division and more hate. All democrats both politicians and voters, every single one of them. Republican politicians.

Destroying the family is all it took to destroy the old US though. Everything else just sped up the collapse.

Many school shootings are stopped today. It wouldn’t be difficult to stop even more (gun control wouldn’t help at all) but politicians don’t want to give up that leverage.

Arm and train teachers and staff who want to carry and who want to protect their students and each other.

No. During the 50's the only drills in school were either for fire or a nuclear bomb. No one worried about shooters esp. in schools. Considering that t.v. was relatively mild then in comparison to today's steady stream of violence, perhaps today's youth have been both desensitized and programmed by what they see coupled with the emotional turmoil experienced at home. Troubled kids with no emotional outlets are finding our schools easy targets to unleash whatever evils are coursing through their veins. It is failure of both our mental health options and what serves as the "norm" in our present day society.

It's called Culture Rot.
Kids not playing outside, Physically interacting with one another, glued to screens and Social Media.
Plus less Father Figures in Families.

Fatherless homes, social media, and boys being told they are evil and the root of all the world's problems are three major factors, IMO.

this is a big part of it. TV. Go back before the 40's and it's almost non-existent.

It's the Internet. If they knew nobody would really hear about it outside of their town most of these shootings wouldnt happen

This is true. However, not in New Iberia. I was in school during the 50s and we never had a fire drill or a nuke drill.
We were always a few years behind America. Hell, in the 60s we were still using ether for surgery. They put a wire mesh strainer over your nose and dripped some liquid on it till you went to sleep.

Take this for what it’s worth, but I think it’s commendable that Louisiana has never produced one of these mass shooters. I think it says something about Louisianans ( insert joke here ). Here in Louisiana we had the Howard Johnson shooter in New Orleans and we had the Lafayette Theatre shooting a few years ago. Both shooters were drifters from other states. Neither of them were from Louisiana.
