Have a close family member and some other close friends and family who are generally normal, well adjusted people. Married, kids, normal, maybe even center or center right in their politics, register Republicans, go to church, etc

But are just completely triggered by Trump. A family member of mine who is a good guy and I love, but he practically foams at the mouth at the mention of Trump because quote: “he says stupid things” and says it’s embarrassing? I responded
“ embarrassing to who? Canada? UK? And who even cares”

I personally disagree with the Trump administration on some of the way the enact policy, for the most part I simply don’t think they are right wing enough or go far enough on things like deportations. But can’t imagine ever getting worked up over some shite Trump says or truths out. I find that embarrassing in and of itself

Tell them to stop watching CNN and MSNBC all the time

If USA is so embarrassing then why are 10s of millions desperately trying to relocate here? If USA is so racist then why would anybody want to move to a racist country?

Oh yeah, I do.

My test is simple: as long as you aren't a demon that celebrates the death of your enemies, i don't care if you have TDS.

The problem is that TDS and wishing death upon your political enemies are generally mutually inclusive. One does not go along without the other.

A CSB here on this subject.

I have a large family, with many cousins, 2nd cousins, 3rd cousins, and so on, scattered throughout the US and internationally. We all keep in close touch through FB.

One cousin with whom I've been close to for over 50 years (staying with her and her husband in London, Thailand, etc), about a year ago, started posting the most ridiculous shite about Trump, obviously from DU or other such sites. I tried to reason with her without getting judgmental, but to no avail. She has now defriended me. She hasn't defriended my wife, so the next time she posts something stupid, I'll use my wife's account to respond - which is sure to get my wife defriended.

Had some like that, but they've seen the light.

Huge Trump supporters at this time. Oh, and they quit watching Good Morning America.

These types of people are really tiring. I don’t let them bother me. They are weak minded people and unable to think for themselves.

Some of my friends are liberals, but professional electrical engineers. Our original relationship built on what I had offer during a joint effort to expel Scientology from the US. My contribution? I had open access to all bank accounts and deposits overseas.

US courts finally declared the completion of lawsuits and ended the pursuit. They are not a recognized religion in the US.

Our friendship continued. We play a lot of golf together……..and agreed to avoid politics. Works very well.

Just to hear them scream Fox News at the top of their lungs. They don't realize we don't take NPC programming like they do.

Yeah, my friends who are like that complain that Trump doesn't act 'presidential.'
Hell, acting presidential used to mean wearing a powdered wig and stockings. They were great because of policy decisions.

Yes. I'm convinced it's pavlovian. Any time Trump or anyone from the Trump world shows up on screen, it's met with an audible noise of disgust. They can even agree with Trump on everything, but that have that reflex still.

I imagine they were trained by an algorithm somehow

Something interesting that I've noticed is that the mainstream Dems I know are actually pretty quiet this time around, but the Never-Trump republicans are the ones freaking out about every tiny thing that happens. It was the opposite in 2017

Obviously the far left is freaking out, but I don't think they ever stop doing that

If you've read the book 1984, Orwell describes exactly what you are seeing. It's referred to in the book as "Two Minutes Hate".

"The horrible thing about the Two Minutes Hate was not that one was obliged to act a part, but, on the contrary, that it was impossible to avoid joining in. Within thirty seconds any pretence was always unnecessary. A hideous ecstasy of fear and vindictiveness, a desire to kill, to torture, to smash faces in with a sledge-hammer, seemed to flow through the whole group of people like an electric current, turning one even against one's will into a grimacing, screaming lunatic. And yet the rage that one felt was an abstract, undirected emotion which could be switched from one object to another like the flame of a blowlamp"

This is the same exact response that most of the folks on the left have when they see or someone mentions Trump. They have a visceral hate for him and most can't even explain in detail why. I've heard "He's just a bad person", from someone who could give zero specifics. If they could give specifics, it was some word salad sound bite from one of the talking heads they listen to.

Once you realize what it for what it is, it' almost sad.

Actually, I think it's the social media algorithms that drives the TDS.

We have a couple friends we get along with well. The wife is a fun conundrum because she hates Trump, Fox, and Republicans, but she like me and has a mutual agreement with nearly all my conservative viewpoints. If you talked to her and did not know, you would assume she is a conservative, but at the end of all our debates she simply reverts back to I hate Trump and Republicans.

This couple do not watch TV, but she spends her time on FB, which then feeds her all the liberal trash to incite her emotions that Republicans are going to destroy everything, even though she agrees with what needs to be destroyed.

Yeah, I've got friends from HS whose TDS is on full display on social media. Same with some family members, too. MSNBC has convinced them that if friends/family don't vote like you, then there's no possible way that you can have contact with them.

You need to separate yourself from people like that. They're gone, by choice. Move on and you'll be happier.

A few shocked me. Like this girl I went to elementary school with. She married a military man, had kids…every sign of a traditional mom, until the raging TDS

On the other hand there’s this guy from my grade who was cool, but somewhat of a black sheep. Smoked cigarettes in front of teachers, went goth, did drugs…then he grew up to be super based.

I work with people like this, but I live in a family of Ex Democrats who are now Trumpers. We did have big argument in our family over Vaccines though.
