DoD inspector general opens ‘evaluation’ of Space Command move to Alabama

What are the chances the Biden administration takes this from Alabama and gives it to a blue state? This would hurt our state.

Obama did this back during the tanker replacement competition.EADS (Airbus)and Mc Donnell Douglas were awarded the contract, and the planes were to be assembled in Mobile. But the Democrat delegation in Washington State squealed and it ended up with Boeing in their state, and it's been a total boondoggle. Airbus liked it here so much they built an assembly plant here anyway. I knew Alabama wasn't getting Space Command.
Lyndon Johnson shut down Brookley AFB back in the 60's costing Mobile thousands of jobs because Alabama voted for George Wallace.

There’s a basing process. They either followed it or they didn’t. If everything is in order, I’m sure it’ll be fine. If they made a decision that was against the criteria solely for political reasons, I hope they do fix it.
Military basing is already costly enough since Congress stands in the way of BRAC for political reasons. Let’s not compound it by making an unnecessarily costly, politically-motivated decision (if that’s what happened) on a basing action.

Colorado made more sense anyways though due to the mass amount of space capes there, was surprised when Alabama was announced

I’ve absolutely been involved in strategic basing decisions, both from base level prep and from D.C. Strat basing is largely an economic decision based upon a long analysis process of short and long term beddown costs. Politics does come into play as states/cities present their best case, but you can’t just ignore the beddown or sustainment costs, which play a much larger role.
If they ignored costs and directed a bad decision, then the IG should absolutely be involved.
