I did... but that scary fricking thing would not stay in the corner where I put it in the bedroom... it kept finding itself in the dining room corner, staring out at the street, planning to go on a shooting spree... I had to get rid of it...

Drawing from federal and state law definitions, the term assault weapon refers primarily to semi-automatic rifles, pistols, and shotguns that are able to accept detachable magazines and possess one or more other features.

100% fake news. Assault weapons by their definition are select-fire (automatic) per ATF.

This definition conveniently keeps changing in the media to include more and more civilian owned guns.

Incorrect. Assault rifles are defined by select-fire capability. Assault weapons have no definition because it's a made-up term by politicians intent on banning firearms they don't like.

Thank you.

That is what I intended to point out with this thread.

It is impossible to own a weapon and it not be an assault weapon. A steak knife is an assault weapon.

I have a deer skinning knife that would do major damage in a crowded street.

It’s lazy though and just sits in the house all day.

I own an assault knife. And an assault saw. An assault hammer. An assault machete. Unfortunately all my assault firearms were lost in a boating accident.

Probably one of the poorest designed and built firearms that was used to strike fear when Clinton was pushing his gun control... Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the "south african streetsweeper"...

The Striker and Streetsweeper were declared destructive devices under the National Firearms Act with no sporting purpose by Treasury Secretary Lloyd Bentsen in 1994 and their transfer and ownership is regulated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).[8]

I wonder how many crimesin the U.S. this firearm was used in prior to its relcassification...

***And help me out. Been seeing the "lost my guns in a boat accident" line for LONG time, and not sure of its genesis..... anyone wanna give the cliffs on said story?

If you really want to get picky...

ATF classifies multiple firearm types or parts that are select fire as "machineguns" including carbines, assault rifles, machine guns, parts to make machine guns, etc.

The distinctive nature of the moniker is whether or not the gun is select fire or the part renders a gun to become select fire.

That is the point I am trying to make is that the scary looking black rifle doesn't meet the Governments own definition of being a machinegun.

I think we agree the "assault weapon" that is loosely thrown around by the media means any weapon they don't like, whether it is select fire or not.

I sold all mine to a Hispanic gentleman through the local newspaper classifides gun section a few years ago. He didn't speak a lick of English. But I was broke and needed money and he had a whole bunch of it.
