From what I’ve read, it is common for Ph.Ds and MDs to be referred to as “doctor,” but not common for psychologists to be referred to as such. It would be a bit like calling an attorney “doctor.” Color me unsurprised that the left would take the path less traveled in order to boost credibility.

A psychiatrist is a doctor of medicine. They prescribe pills. A psychologist is a doctor of philosophy. They do not prescribe pills. They are both titled doctors however.
