This is a fair point. Many of the supposedly most diverse, tolerant or woke cities have the least diverse dating pools. You see far more interracial couples in the south than in northeastern or west coast woke cities. Blacks and whites in the south tend to grow up, live and work together (and are related to each other much of the time). The south is actually integrated culturally instead of paying lip service to it.

It might be because ad agencies think they can reach two demographics, lets say black and white, with such ads. It saves money, no need to make two different spots.

The Federal government invested heavily in ad campaigns against gun ownership in the 1990's, funding from the CDC and NIJ through the Ad Council. Anyone who thinks the government isn't engaging in social engineering through advertising is simply ignorant.

With respect to common parlance and legalities, less than 5% gene overlap really isn't considered "related".
Although what you say is true, you will find the highest rates in the south.
